Yes it is already done like that but maybe there is a way to tweak it. Lets say that playing 30 minutes a game is a 10 stam which is insane. That equals .333 stamina for every minute of average ice tine. So if someone plays 3rd line minutes of approx 15 minutes he would have a stam of just about 5 and there are guys with 7's, just like with goalies i think that playing 60 games is a 10 stam which comes out to .166 per start so if you were yo fo that for backups it would bring down most of their stam so that someone who played 21 games last season has a stam of about 3.5 so guys cant use this backup with monster cards to play every other game.

If I'm not mistaken it takes the league average, applies 5 to that, and goes up and down based of the players + or - from the average.

It does take the players average into account. Also, if you check the minutes played of some stud d men, very high 20s in minutes is not uncommon. What did karllson do last year in the NHL? I bet it was high 20s
