OK this is actually pretty damn cool!!! Kudos... Thanks Owen. The simulator from day one has always been much richer than what the Game Central page was able to display. This is just the alpha version so I plan on continuing to improve this over the off season as well.

Game tonight wrapped up on twitch well before the game in progress screen Yeah the debugging version I am running at the moment runs every non shot pulse in 1/2 of a second. Once the version is perfected and available for download I anticipate giving the end user the option of how long this time period should be. It also is bypassing the hitting right now (attempted hits versus landed hits) in order to streamline the game. I will work these back in in hopefully a manner that doesn't slow things down too much.

I probably will just go ahead and broadcast/record the remainder of the conference finals and finals this year.
A few items to note.
Players wind ratings are accurate through the end of the first period. The engine resets the ratings all to blue 100% at the end of each period but the DVR player is not doing this reset yet. This means that engine is operating properly but the code hasn't been placed to replicate this piece of engine logic.
The ratings that are shown when a pass is taking place are not 100% accurate. This is because a pass pulse is made up of two actions (1, does the player get a pass off or did he lose the puck trying to and 2, how good of a pass was it if he was able to get the pass off (better passes have a higher probability of moving into more dangerous areas). Both of these do head to head checks and in checking the DVR output it seems that the D rating shown is the rating on if the pass was made but it displays the player whose rating was used to determine the quality of the pass. That's why you may see a rating for a player that is higher then the named players max value for a skill. You will only see this if you frame by frame the video as it is going by too quick right now to see.
Whenever a puck is turned over sometimes the spinning icon lags a pulse behind.
I will look at changing the graphics to show a skating player the same way the DVR displays all skating and passing now (currently point to point movement of the spinning disk from point A to point B). I want to add some code that will display passes as only the puck moving across the ice and another spinning circle materializing at the destination spot to accept the pass. I also want to include similar puck movement showing pucks being directed towards the net. In regards to the skating I will look to find some algorithms to calculate curved lines to show for the skating instead of the straight lines displayed now. If any of you math guys know a formula for this, please hit me up.
Lastly, I want to get the penalties showing so these can be tracked more easily.

Hey, just got a minute to give this all a look. It looks awesome!!!
I do have a some criticism, and I only mean it as constructive, because, damn son...this is awesome!!!
Here is what I see at first glance...
1- The action was way too fast to follow....as I was looking at who was on the ice, the spinners were spinning and distracting me, lol...but I stuck to it and was able to follow the action for the most part.
2- There seemed to be a lot of center ice action, where there were, I guess, passes going astray or intercepted. That seemed a little much, but, hey, it could happen.
3- Here's something I noticed in the Hartford-Quebec game: As soon as Hartford scores to make it 1-0, I looked immediately to see how the on ice squad's looked ( stamina wise ), Hartford's squad, most of them looked gassed, however, they all stayed on the ice for the following faceoff....and BLAMO, Quebec scores. My question is, why wouldn't the logic change the lines and put a fresh unit out there? Especially since it is a faceoff after a goal. That's something I think may need tweaking on the game engine.
That's all I got for now...
1- Glenn, your a beautiful man and you've created a beautiful work of art!!!!
2- I Love it!!!
3- Now, on to more game viewing after dinner, expect more critiquing ( spellcheck needed for that word ).

Chris,
One of the primary reasons for developing the viewer was so that I/we collectively could make observations on how to improve the engine. Is there too much center ice play? Too many turnovers? Those types of things. As I add a few more tweaks to allow us to better digest the game (mentioned in my earlier post) I think these things will become a little clearer and the engine can be adjusted accordingly (after the season of course)
In regards to the guys appearing gassed, if it was in period 2 or 3 then the DVR is not accurately showing the wind rating for players as per my previous post. If in the first, then that is something different.

I had a chance to check out a bit of the game tonight and it looks good! One thing I made mention would be to have a scoring summary up on the screen. I think when I came in it was 1-0, but (I don't think there was) a way for me to see who scored. Also, and I don't know if this is possible, is it possible to develop a shot tracker in the post game box score? Currently it shows the zone where goals are scored, but I think it would be beneficial to see exactly where shots (and goals) are coming from. You can do this per period. Here's an example of what I'm talking about (I'm really just talking about the shot chart and not all of the other bells and whistles): www.allhabs.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/NHL-IceTracker-Habs-Sabres-even-strength.png

I'm not sure if the players I was referring to were actually "gassed" but their colors were close to that, and if I'm a coach I replace them before puck drop. It was the first period G, have a look. Just something to look at.

Just something to look at. OK, this type of feedback is great, keep it coming. I do know that the engine currently has a very rudimentary AI but the viewer will help identify areas that need some loving. In addition to these type of things, the pulling of the goalies if getting shelled or late in the game needs to be added as well.

We have a contractor coming by the house early this evening so my time to fiddle with this prior to tonight's game will most likely be limited to 30 minutes (if all goes well that is). That being said I do have a solution in my coconut that should work and not be too taxing to implement. Shot tracking is defiantly doable with the DVR as well. That being said, I believe Justin may be tinkering (in his spare time) with developing a similar solution for the website which would allow players to focus in on a particular game in this manner.
