All seriousness it's probability and bad luck. Everyone will regress/progress toward mean eventually just whether you got caught during a hot streak.
Mike Smith was unbelivable against me .924 sv percent vs his .903 season while (-2) 5/7 games. Anderson was .901 vs his .914 season. If I won game 7 I wouldn't have been shocked to see Anderson put up .927 next series to bring average back in line. Just like I won't be shocked if Smith has an .882 next series to bring him closer to his average.
Does it suck Anderson laid an egg while a retired goalie with 4 fort and 5 stamina stole a series? For sure, but it's hockey and that happens a lot.

Wow Scott! You showed up to say, "We are just like the NHL!" When just a few weeks ago you said We aren't like the NHL! LOL!!! Flip Flopping isn't something to be proud of.

I still say it cannot and never will be a mirror and that's what it seems we want. I was simply showing that it happens in real life as well. I have started many times that if there is a problem, I also would like to see it corrected. I'm not sure why you are arguing just because I choose to point out that it may be that nothing is amiss. We can't just argue one side of the aisle. Both sides need to be looked at in order to figure out if there is an actual issue that needs to be solved. Collecting negative data only shows negative results. I just want the full picture to know for sure so that we don't fix something that isn't broken. However, if it's broken, then absolutely let's fix it.
Jon and I, were trying to show both sides of the aisle. Not working together, we were actually pointing out something may possibly be wrong/broken. He approached it from the goaltender side, I was from an Offensive side. At the time, you didn't have any issues because you were at a point that your team was cruising to the top and your goalies were shutting teams out on a regular basis. I was also winning, but I felt like something was still off.
I was getting 55-65 shots a game, and keeping my opponents to 25-35 a game. I ended the season the same way. In the SIM playoffs, 55-65 shots no longer was a SIM reality. I did manage to still outshoot my opponent by 60 shots overall. But, the outcome wasn't the same.
In the real world...Regular Season and Playoff Season are two very different animals. WE ALL KNOW THAT SCOTTY!!! Pumping your chest afterwards is primal. Guess what, this isn't the real world. It's make believe.
Instead of us all fighting and having heated debates, If things were a bit more out in the open...It would be easier to understand. but things aren't so out in the open.
Referee's for games are assigned - I assume randomly. But, I don't know. Do you? Game Engine Nuances: I have no clue...Is there Physical, Psychological advantages? Are there any limiters within the game? Was the GM Hate Meter ever installed? What about Player Card development? WHO randomly chooses player attributes? Does it even matter? Why does a skater have a 3 speed one season, and the next season he's a 7 speed? Does anyone else even ever notice these things like I do? Does anyone else even really care? How does a goalie have a 1 in any category? These are things that I FEEL MATTER. I think it's important to know the answer to these questions.
I'm not sitting around with a piece of straw in my teeth with a runny nose and a number 3 buzz cut. I actually like to know some of the nuances of the game because I have more fun when I win then when I lose. Is that a crime? Yeah, I tried the politically correct method a long time ago. Now, I use the direct exhaust method.

Thank you for proving my point. You guys are nuking the shit out of this, and that's fine, but it's not working. Maybe you missed this part of your quote as you were too busy paying attention.

I haven't been commenting because I don't care about this discussion. And if you feel I'm flipping back and forth, why are you so caught up in worrying about what I have to say. It's only been said over and over that we strive to be like the NHL, but it's obvious that it can't be a mirror. It wouldn't be any fun if it mirrored the NHL. So, I'm not allowed to compare the GHL to real life? No problem, I'll just sit here and let you guys worry about why you aren't meeting your expectations while the best in the NHL do the same as you believe there is no comparison to be made because we aren't like the NHL. The answer is in random numbers, and you'd rather tread water all day trying to explain randomness?

No, you only comment when you see an NHL correlation that you like to throw in there and say "See, we're just like the NHL. It happens in real life!" or something along those lines. Then when I call you out on it, you say, we aren't just like the NHL.

No, you're taking that as me saying "look, we're just like the NHL" in simply making a comparison to real-life hockey. Teams lose that shouldn't both here and there. Teams control every aspect of a game and still lose both here and there. Oh shit, maybe we are similar to the NHL. Sorry if I joke over such a serious topic, I do find it amusing, however, that we are trying to mathematically explain random. If that's the route you choose to use, I wish you luck. I'm not convinced that either approach is better than the other, I'm simply sticking to hockey over trying to decide RNG. Some analytics are a good thing, but this isn't analytics, this is randomness.
