6 of the 13 RFA bids retained by default. I hope this trend of not paying attention continues for the UFA signing period This is something we do differently from the NHL to account for people not necessarily being able to check things on short notice, correct?

I hope this trend of not paying attention continues for the UFA signing period Wish it were true...but there's always a couple of Tigers hiding behind the brush waiting to pounce. And, there's always a couple GM's that bid outlandish amounts and overpay for the one-hit-wonders of the GHL. Can't blame them. When those one-hit-wonders GHL Card rivals a legit perennial NHL Super-Star Card, why wouldn't you want to pay them a super-stars salary? Then, get stuck with that players card next season when he comes bouncing back to reality.

This is something we do differently from the NHL to account for people not necessarily being able to check things on short notice, correct? Correct. A 24 hour respond period is certainly not short notice. I live in a pretty remote area, have a full time job (can't have my phone for 8 hours a day), family, and a very hefty cornhole habit that takes up evening hours 2 or more nights a week and manage to check in. Sure, everybody's life is different, I understand but don't necessarily sympathize when someone claims they can't respond. Don't get me wrong, if we all know that a response is not required to retain then maybe someone's lack of response is just that, not sure.
