2015 Official Waive/Retain Thread

Find below a listing of the missing non minor league contracts and what the disposition of each player is. If a player has a status of 1 he was either injured all year or played in a league other than the NHL (ECHL, college, KHL, Europe, etc). In these cases the players rights can be retained for 100k or they can be released freely. Players with a status of 2 means they either retired or they were out of pro hockey last year as a FA. Remember, you are allowed to waive 1 player per year and there is a cost associated with this. You can read up on the costs in the rulebook section. If you do now have a player that you need to waive and you have some extra cap space, sometimes a trade can be made with a team that is either tight cap wise or has more than 1 player they want to waive.

It also should be noted that if a player was drafted and he is on his ELC, he can be dropped freely as well.
