No thanks not for me at least. It wouldn't be hard to add that little tidbit of code for the expansion team when they are selecting an Amerk though. Just let me know

So you can add that code but not one on who has to be left unprotected?

It's already in there. All other teams will be able to select the guys they want to protect. You not so much

Any thoughts on how the picks will go? Maybe we have two lotteries. One for the order of the teams that are picked from and one for the team that picks off the team...

Has a final decision been made on this? I remember seeing there would be a decision in 24 hours, but don't see a final decision.
This is what I have gathered so far:
Teams can protect: 7 forwards, 3 defensemen, 1 goalie OR 8 skaters, 1 goalie All 2018+ RFAs are protected, except players on a bridge deal. There are no exposure requirements.
Is there anything I got wrong or am missing?

As I recall, that pretty much sums it up. Pretty straightforward really. There was still some discussion on how many players a team can pick but I think Matt pointed us to what the NHL was doing limiting it to 3 goalies for sure.

Are you still going code it so that would have a *protected* symbol ect by each players name ?

Everyone is going to lose one player. Suck it up and don't overthink it. Making trades at this point to avoid losing someone is likely to be silly more often than not.

I think it would help league balance if the expansion team could pick up to three players from one franchise, more in line with other expansion drafts in other sports. After each selection, the team that gets hit can protect three more guys. Thin the herd.
Thus, some teams wouldn't get hit at all that have managed their roster such that they don't have any unprotected talent. I think it could be very helpful to use expansion to enhance competitiveness.
Radically, I'd also propose that any team that can't win 15 games gets "fired". Their players go into UFA and the team becomes an expansion team for the next season.

Radical indeed, "Thin the herd", "league balance" seems to be socialist. Then you go opposite end and a "poor" team gets what little they have taken away and must start over. Now I have no idea what to think of your views.

Let's put it this way. The sum total of Toronto (10 wins), Alaska (11 wins), and Hershey (12 wins) equals 33. 20 GHL teams won more games than Toronto, Alaska, and Hershey COMBINED Quebec and Cleveland not only won more games than those three franchises, but they had 21 wins to spare. So add in Edmonton's 20 wins, and Cleveland and Quebec won more games than the bottom four franchises combined.. Chicago had a losing record. Yep, they won more games than Alaska, Toronto, and Hershey Combined. I am not the one being disingenuous here. The facts are ugly. Keep the ad hominem shit to yourself

So which is it? 7 Forwards, 3 Defenseman and 1 Goalie ( 11 Protected players ) OR 8 Skaters and 1 Goalie ( 9 Protected players )
So, this means... 1- 2017 RFA's are eligible for the expansion draft, correct? 2- 2018, 2019, 2020 RFA's are not eligible for the expansion draft.
