Will we be doing our draft lottery right around the same time the NHL (May 8th) does? Or will we be waiting until after the playoffs?

I am OK with doing it around the same time as the NHL does theirs. This will give the teams not in the playoffs this year some added time to start researching their potential picks.
As has been the case prior years, new player cards will not be released until after our playoffs have concluded.

I wanted to bump this since the NHL Lottery is Monday night. I also have a few questions.
The new rules state that a team can’t win the lottery more than twice in a five year period. Is this year the first year in that five year period?
Is a team only considered to have won the lottery if they get #1 or move up anywhere into the top 3?
What happens if the worst team in the league gets the #1 overall pick? Is that considered winning the lottery?
What happens if a team traded their 1st Round Pick then that pick wins the lottery. Who would you say won the lottery? The original team or the team that owns the pick?
Finally, what happens if a team does win 3 times in a 5 year period? Is that complete draw scrapped and everything is redone?
A lot of these scenarios will never happen, but we should be prepared in case they do.

Not sure if what the NHL is doing impacts us much.
Our lottery has always been kinda weird compared to the NHL. The GHL lottery has been ruthless to losing teams.
There was a year or two where we just mirrored the results of NHL lottery and I quite preferred that.

I only mentioned the NHL Lottery because we were going to schedule our lottery around the same time. My questions dealt with our lottery.

Only 1st overall is considered winning the draft. What happens if the worst team in the league gets the #1 overall pick? Is that considered winning the lottery? Based on original pick owner. Finally, what happens if a team does win 3 times in a 5 year period? Is that complete draw scrapped and everything is redone? Yes. *edit - I misread your comment at first. The whole draft isn't redone, lower teams will all move up and the would-be winner will move back 1 spot.A lot of these scenarios will never happen, but we should be prepared in case they do.

Thanks, Glenn. Is it going to be held between the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the playoffs?

Just a reminder, I believe we added a rule that no team can move up more than 3 spots. This would mean that if the team holding spot #11 wins the lottery, they can only move up to #8 overall.

Draft Lottery Process 3 teams will be selected via the card draw referenced above to determine picks 1 through 3. This will insure that no team will fall more than 3 spots from their reverse points order finish. That’s what in the rule book

We’re only drawing for the top 3 spots so #16 could end up at #1, but the worst you can drop is 3 spots.

I thought you were only able to move up 10 spots

Maybe that's what it was, whatever it is, I know 11 teams can only move up a certain #, maybe that's what was triggering 11 for me, because that would be the last team that could win the lottery and move up to #1

Yes, in the NHL, only the top 11 teams can move up to #1. The NHL also only holds 2 lotteries.
So, I assume our bottom 16 teams are eligible to reach #1 and we are drawing 3 lottery winners, meaning everyone else is only eligible to move down a max of 3 slots.
The NHL lottery is tonight.

I loaded up the tool I use to do/broadcast the draft and we will conduct the draft lottery when there are no games scheduled in the GHL. I imagine this could be as early as mid-late this week. Please review the attached to make sure there are no errors. Top row 3 card, 2nd row 2 cards, bottom row 1 card. Base order on left to help when we assign final positions (limited drop rule)
