Guys....please get a little more creative in naming ALL the threads - being more accurate in the subject line or "name" of the thread....
Don't just label or name the thread - "Trade announcement"
Instead...
Call it something like "Trade between Suffolk and Toronto" ect
That's makes it more easily found, moved, searchable ect.

Can the commish consider implementing a trade/transaction cap?
Not calling anyone out, because there is no rule, but there needs to be a rule.

If there is no NHL trade cap....there should be no FHL trade cap....
New team owners are stuck with previous owners players....they naturally want to redesign their team.
that said.......it should be fair. No one team should be able to pull a fast one on an owner that may not be a steepted in hockey team building tactics ect.
This topic should have had it's own thread...btw...

I agree with Phil. A GM should be able to be as active or inactive as they want.

No cap is my vote, I think that's a cheesy fantasy league gimmick and we are not a cheesy fantasy league.
As far as pulling a fast one on an owner who may not necessarily be a guru, my advice is ask questions. I know for myself, if a guy is unsure of an offer I send, just ask, and I will explain why I may want a certain guy, what I feel his value is, as well as what I'm giving you back...however, I will not do this for the guys I know have hockey knowledge. Hopefully, no one would intentionally f#@* another owner.

Can the commish consider implementing a trade/transaction cap? Not calling anyone out, because there is no rule, but there needs to be a rule. Matt does bring up a good point. While there is no cap limit in the NHL, and we want to mirror the NHL whenever possible, there is an extreme amount of trades (far and above what happen in the NHL). So, if we are trying to mirror the NHL, we are pretty far from it right now. My thoughts would be to impose some guidelines on teams that would give them flexibility to make a significant number of trades without turning their entire roster over in one year. With this, I would also have a caveat in by where any new owner would have the ability to make as many trades as they like during their first year. This would assist with new owners who just joined the league and inherited a franchise in varying levels of disarray in getting the team back on the right track. Thoughts?

Just because the FHL movement flurry is greater than the NHL doesn't make it *wrong*.
My vote is - let the owners trade who they want, when they want. Trading for players showcases hockey acumen....or lack thereof. It's vital to the game and the FHL.
and here's a good reason, if you still need one.....some owners are very interested and active - viewing trading players as a happy part of their "subgame" / experience here in the FHL. For some, player movement and crafting a team may just be as fun as winning the games.
Some thoughts...

www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=70000i count something like 56 trades in the NHL since June 23rd, i cound 50 total in our league since June 19 (based off transaction history) according to trade breakdown, i alone have made 23 trades, take them out you aren't even close to what the NHL does as a league also, if you're going to put a limit on maximum trades, are you going to require a minimum? wouldn't be fair, but it looks like most, if not all, NHL teams have already made a trade at some point since June 23rd. there's teams here who have never made a trade

i second both phil and ian here...of course!
seriously, both have excellent points....
i dont thk penalizing active owners is a good thing to do....it stifles action and FUN.

If we put a cap on the trade, we will see a huge drop in forum activity real soon. I believe that is one of the main reason why owners are staying tuned to the forum on a daily basis. At least that's why I'm always on here. It makes it fun and always makes you wonder whose going to pull the trigger next.
In what Ian did to his team this year was simply amazing. He definitely has some balls into transforming his team and to make them one serious threat in the Prince of Wales Conference. If i could do the same I would.
Anyways thats just my two cents.

ad for the teams that don't trade at all and are competative - the Quebecs, Syracuse and yes, the Pharos....bully for them ! Good on ya all for building great teams with homegrown talent.
I just don't see where there should be restrictions on trades or no trades....

were gettin' a little sloppy on the trade postings. Headers / threads are better but the body of the thread should be:
Dallas Acquires: Jones, probert
San Jose Acquires: Conroy, Dallas 2nd rounder.

Trade announcement format:
Example
Rochester acquires Carcillo, Prust and Rochester's 2015 5th pick.
Hershey acquires Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin.
