After being benched for three straight games, Tomas Vokoun got the call in New York tonight and answered with a 27 save performance, holding the powerful Boston Bears to only one goal as his team tallied a 3-1 victory.
The game was a special teams affair which opened with Jarred Smithson scoring his first of the season shorthanded, Phil Kessel then scored his fifteenth on the powerplay late in the period. Boston cut the lead in half with a powerplay goal in the second but couldn't get any closer than that. Callahan topped of the scoring with a powerplay marker in the third to send the Amerks to 2-0-2 in their last four.
"I'm glad Tomas responded the way he did, he is a good goaltender and we need him, so hopefully the message was received." said GM Jones after the big win tonight.
