Moncton this year compared to Moncton last year is a significant improvement. Nobody expected them to kick off the year 2-0 against Ham and Hal but they aren't doormats this year.
On the other hand Colorado looks like they're in trouble. Need to play with the lines and find some shots.

I could understand your point if either team had better offense, defense, skill or even if they outplayed me. None of that happened though, I played the better goalie, had more shots, etc. Doesn't really make sense. It's not just my games either. I think we rushed into this season when we weren't really ready. We are allowing teams to play games when they are over the cap without any penalty whatsoever. I understand the cap page was messed up but I doubt I'm in the minority when I track all this through excel. It takes like 10 minutes and teams should be responsible for their cap at all times. I know the only explanation I will get is law of averages so I'm not really looking for an answer but right now player ratings seem to mean nothing. I'm not going to keep complaining about it because I don't really care, just giving my opinion.

I can understand both of yours ( Halifax ) and Matt's points...I think things were a tiny bit rushed, but I'm not too concerned about the contracts, they will get squared away. However, I think somethings are a little weird. In agreement with Ian on the "stats" not amounting to a "W"...I too out-stat'd Philadelphia on opening night on the road in Philly...I think I out shot them 43-18 and lost 3-0. But, that type of thing happens in the NHL too, so not to worried.
What is noticeable to me, is...there are a crap load of defensive forwards in this GHL this year!!!! I mean...every team has 3 or 4 lines with defensive ratings at 25-30....Really??? I don't recall scoring being down in the NHL last season. The trap was outlawed!!!
How and Why are all of these ratings happening in the G? How are they going to affect the scoring in the G? Ironically....I have a better Goalie than last year, much better team defense...I played a team that IMO took a step back ( Que ) and I beat them 5-3 and out shot em 39-23...??
It's like, shooting percentages are weighing high, or something weird is happening....Law of percentages has always prevailed...and it will continue....so I'm not worried about Suffolk. Just an observation.
Heck, another observation...I lose to Philly...controlled the play obviously...out shot em 45-18...I had 15 blocked shots...amounting to not to much action by Philly...I managed a measley 43 shots, and Philly blocked another 24 that were headed to the net. That's 67 attempts!!!! Oh yeah....I got shut out!! Crazy, no? Ah, it could happen, and it does.

There have been no, zero, nada, zilch changes to the engine aside from giving teams the flexibility to play their 4th line and 3rd d pairing differently (which isn't a change to the engine). The exact same algorithms are in place now that were in place when Boston won the cup 3 months ago.

I am....honestly, I am relaxed.
Just looking at the Philly-Suffolk stat line though, and others-it is a little odd, why wouldn't a person question the Game Engine. Maybe it always has been, I don't know, but I don't recall seeing a modern day hockey game in which a team was so dominated, and yet, shut out its opponent...by a one to nothing score is more acceptable...but 3-0...not so acceptable.
Out Hit ( 30-18 ), Out Shot ( 43-18 ), Lost in the Dot ( 41-22 ), Short-Handed 8 Times, Had 2 Forwards with 4 Stamina on the Top Line play 23 Mins without being fatigued?
I'm just saying, a lot of the stat line....just doesn't add up. The Preview, The In-Game Stats really didn't equal what I would say was a Philly Win, let alone a Philly 3-0 win.
Totally honesty, I really didn't give it much of a concern being as though it is only the first game. But, in seeing other scores and stat lines, and Ian's post...made me do some research.
So, question(s):
1- Do teams get added boost to their teams overall In Game Stats for anything? a) Season Home Opener b) Rivalry c) Divisional Opponent? Conference foe? 2- How much does the Fatigue/Stamina effect a player's Card, or his effectiveness, when he is over used in the game?
3- Are there any special Algorithms that enhance or detract from a teams overall effectiveness? a) Rivalry Game b) Too many trades ( Team Chemistry ) c) Weaker Players in Key Lineup Positions ( Fatigued Players, Injury Prone Players, Low Stamina Players )
OF COURSE, I KNOW that games like the Philly-Suffolk match up can occur, I'm just happier than heck that I didn't lose to the powder puff blue Pharaoh team from Season's past....these are just some very valid questions that I believe were brought up in the past, or discussed...just not sure if anything was done to enhance or detract.
