Any chance we can get a final ruling on this before we get too deep into RFA? Who is automatically protected, how many at each position can we protect? Are we going to have a rule about the number of people we must expose, or just a rule on the number of people we can protect? I feel like this is all pretty important to know before making decisions in RFA.

Sorry boys. I haven't had the time to weed back through this thread (and any other associated threads) to consolidate all of the talking points. This is yet another reason that moving forward these discussions will be held in a skype call by anyone who has enough of a vested interest to attend. I think the post on the top of page 2 sums it up pretty well though. gtgfhl.proboards.com/post/33887/thread

Selective hearing the Hockey Wife has on this Let's try and sum it up Each team can protect 7 Forwards, 3 Defensemen, 1 Goalie OR 8 Skaters and 1 Goalie Automatically ProtectedAny drafted player RFA 2018 or later Someone can help fill in exposure requirements but I think that is just overcomplicating things.

That seems to be how I read it. And I am behind the two NHL cards rule.

I thought there was some discussion on this applying to drafted players only but to keep it simple we could go with any RFA unless someone can suggest why we shouldn't. Simple

Any non-bridged RFAs. Guys can't bridge a player just to protect him.

I believe the exposure was two forwards and one defenseman who played 40 games in the previous season or 70 in the previous two and one goaltender who is signed through 2017-18 or is a tendered RFA after next season (we could just say RFA since our RFA's are all considered tendered)

Glenn, can we get a final ruling on this? From my understanding it looks like the rules as of now are: Teams can protect: 7 forwards, 3 defensemen, 1 goalie Or 8 skaters, 1 goalie All 2018+ RFAs are automatically protected.
Is that what we're going with?

Close, its all 2018+ Unbridged RFAs are protected automatically. I think the other thing we have yet to nail down solidly is what must be exposed by each team.
