In Suffolk-Quebec game tonight....Suffolk's Goal by Ceci ( Pacioretty, OPEN POSITION )
There are/were No positions left blank, and no in game injuries for Suffolk. Why would this be? Or better yet, what does it mean?

Whenever a team is short handed they will have at least one open position. If a team is down one man their center position is open. When 2 men down their LW and RW positions are open. So at the point in the game when this goal was scored Quebec did have 1 open position. Their is game logic that keeps track of who touched the puck (so assists can be handed out when a goal is scored). This logic also resets the counter whenever their is a turnover. I am guessing, and I will consult the log to be sure, that a puck went to the open position and since no one was there Suffolk retained the puck and for one reason or another this entry wasn't flushed from the "who touched the puck tracker".
