FROM THE POINT:
As the offseason comes to an end there has never been more excitement for a Mustangs season.
For the first time the Mustangs are riding into a positive direction. Draft picks have been kept and a high quality of blue chip prospects are waiting in the wings: Lettieri, Lindblom, Toews, Djoos and Salomaki should soon be ready to join the likes of Arvidson, Vatrano, Lindberg and Tkachuk.
President and GM John Anthony stated "if you look at our roster we have constructed an identity. The days of an unbalanced roster are over. Detroit is going to be a hard working speedy team with two way players up and down the roster. We spent years building a franchise and it looks like its time to make a major step forward within the GHL"
John Anthony leads the Mustangs for year #6 after taking the reigns of the organization after the 2010-11 season. The Mustangs have been perennial GHL bottom dwellers owning a measly .380 winning %. Their lone playoff appearance was during the 2014-15 season where they made some noise advancing to game 7 of the 2nd round. Since that time things have continued to fall with last season being the worst of them all.
This is a put up or shut up season for Detroit. Has ownership finally realized the mistakes of past seasons? Will players such as Sedin, Couture and Halak live up to the back of their trading cards? Will the key additions of Green, Macdonald, Plekanec and the most overlooked of them all Hendricks bring the Mustangs the much needed leadership and skill they desperately have lacked?
Many questions that will be soon be answered come October 6. But one question that is already known is that Detroit is HOCKEY TOWN USA and Mustang fans are ready to ride!

FROM THE POINT: And they are off. The Mustangs boast their best season start in franchise history with a 8-2-2 record. Logan Couture has led the Hockey Town revival with 12 points in the first 12 games while the Mustangs Special teams have been nothing less then perfect. President and GM John Anthony stated "we felt like this summer we took major steps at turning this thing around. I said it before the season began on how this line up is loaded with two way players and I really feel its why we are off to such a great start..." Asked if the roster is complete, Anthony replied "We are never done, the phone lines are always open and in the GHL you have to play chess not checkers...." Although its only 12 games the people of Detroit are in a frenzy thinking they might just might finally have a contender...Mustang Sally rides for now...But that ride is a marathon not a sprint. Logan Couture has led the Mustangs to their best start in franchise history, seen scoring here during a come back win vs Colorado on October 28th.

FROM THE POINT:
Cleveland snaps the Mustangs 11 game unbeaten streak...
The Barons showed who's boss with a statement win versus Detroit who came in on a back to back Saturday Night. The upstart Mustangs who lead the league in penalty killing were socked for two goals and even gave up a shorty as they surrendered 4 unanswered goals to seal their fate.
Cleveland now is tops in the Prince Of Whales Conference while Mustang Sally and her boys hold on to second place.
Next up for Detroit is a home match up with the perennial power house Huskies. Should be a doozy November 14 in Hockey Town.

FROM THE POINT: Detroit may be the adopted home of Heavy Weight Great Joe Louis but Tuesday night in hockey town provided a 12 round slug fest. Two of the top teams in the GHL traded body blows for 60 minutes with the not so surprising anymore Mustangs ending the contest with a knock out. The game saw these teams fire away a combined 71 shots on goal many from point blank range with both goalies making highlight reel saves many times during the night. Victor Arvidsson would tally the eventual game winner with his team leading 10th goal of the year late in the second period as the Mustangs fended off a furious finish by the Huskies. The win proved costly for Detroit as #1 Center Logan Couture went to the dressing room with under a minute to go in the 3rd period with an undisclosed injury. Reports today are calling it a mild right knee sprain with Couture missing the next 2 weeks. Mustang Sally now rides off to New York to face the Americans.

FROM THE POINT: After going 0 3 1 in their last 4 games the Mustangs finally snapped their winless streak vs Hamilton on Monday Night. They were led by the ageless wonder Patrick Marleau who picked up the games first star honors in Detroit's 4 - 2 win. John Anthony, CEO/GM of the Mustangs was caught briefly leaving the arena stating the following " At this point in the year we just faced some adversity and were able to snap out of it quickly...We seem to be the Rodney Dangerfield of the GHL....No respect....IM fine with that"... The iconic Rodney Dangerfield "I get no respect!"..

FROM THE POINT:
After going thru a horrid stretch the Mustangs find themselves in striking distance for 1st in the Patrick. With less then half a season to go Jon Anthony was recently heard saying that “no more deals are on the table...we looked hard and had many close deals but at this time Detroit will not mortgage any future picks or prospects. We have come this far with the men we got and we will continue to move forward with them...”
These comments seem to end weeks of speculation that the Mustangs were desperately attempting to improve their goaltending and scoring...
Its no looking back in Hockey Town, we shall see if moves not made were the best moves to make.

FROM THE POINT: In a surprise move this weekend the Mustangs solidified their goaltending with the trade of Keith Kinkaid who makes his way from Cleveland. Many thought Detroit had closed up shop on any deal this year but John Anthony was quoted stating "This deal was on the burner for a long time, we really thought it was dead. Cleveland called and we answered. We are thrilled to have Keith in the fold for the rest of this year and all of next"... Kinkaid goes from not playing all year to getting the start tomorrow night against Philly....Savvy move once again by the Mustangs who continue to build towards a long playoff run this spring. - Keith Kinkaid -

FROM THE POINT: With the GHL trade deadline fast approaching rumors are swirling out of Detroit that rookie Mathew Tkachuk is available. Unconfirmed reports state that before drafting Tkachuk management attempted to trade down in the draft feeling he was just not the right fit for the teams new direction... No comments have yet to be given by GM and CEO John Anthony but sources close to this story state the phone lines are open. This would truly be a stunning turn of events for a young player with such promise and future. It never seems to be quite in Hockey Town, should be a wild ride to the dead line. Mathew Tkachuk seen here on draft day taken 5th overall by the Mustangs

FROM THE POINT: With the 2017-18 regular season coming to an end the Mustangs have completed their best season to date. After years of futility Detroit will enter the playoffs with home ice and the #4 seed. In the past years we have seen President and GM Of Hockey Operations John Anthony make the most trades in GHL history. Many of the deals were criticized and many were praised. But this season his plan has come to fruition. If you look up and down the Mustangs roster Detroit will be in the Cup hunt for years to come. Strong drafting, trades and free agent signings has Hockey Town a potential final destination for the GreyTower Cup. Get your pop corn ready GHL Fans because Mustang Sally rides again! 2015 2nd round pick Viktor Ardvison leads the Mustangs in goals and scoring during his second full season in Detroit. A shining example of the superb drafting by John Anthony.

From The Point: The Mustangs season comes to a shocking end as they loose in 5 to the Beavers. After a game 1 win Detroit suffered a heartbreaking double OT defeat after pouring on 14 shots in the first OT. When asked on what happened John Anthony was quoted as saying "after that game 2 loss it seemed like the wheels fell off, sometimes when playing this game you get some momentum going, the adrenaline gets going and anything can happen. Hats off to Edmonton and we wish them luck." As the season now ends nobody here in Hockey Town was ready to head to the golf course just yet. Look for some offseason moves and new additions next fall as the Mustangs attempt to build on their own momentum they gained during this historic season. No heads should be hanging as the Mustangs finally restored Hockey Town to where it was once known to be. Mustang Sally now takes a early ride into spring and summer but don't think Sally will stop riding once October comes. The Mustangs should be racing for another playoff spot next year. Mike Granlund seen scoring here as the Beavers stun the Mustangs and move on to round 2.

FROM THE POINT: John Anthony is at it again. The GHL leader in trades has struck again. In a pre draft trade with his long time trading partner Moncton the Mustangs have acquired picks #60 and 66 along with Jacob Markstrom and Tyson Barrie. Going north of the boarder is pick #21, Eric Fehr and former 3rd pick Mikka Salomaki. The deal once again gives the Mustangs a #1 goalie in their continued search to solidify the position, Barrie will add much needed depth on D and the picks always seem to be worth more then expected given the history on recent Detroit finds during the draft. Jacob Markstrom is moving to Hockey Town in what Detroit hopes to be their #1 goalie and another playoff appearance.

FROM THE POINT: Woahhh! The Mustangs have gotten off to a horrid start to the 18-19 season finding themselves near the bottom of the Prince Of Whales Conference. So what was Detroit to do? Sell? Those years seem to be gone. The Stangs have pulled off an absolute blockbuster of blockbuster deals with the suddenly rebuilding Swords. Detroit President and CEO John Anthony released the following statement "The start of this year coming off of last has been very disappointing. We feel this team is close really close and should be pushing for a playoff spot and have a big run. This deal tells you the media who have written us off already and our fans who pack the arena each and every night that the Mustangs are in it to win it. We gave up some kids we really, really love and it was extremely hard to pull this trigger but getting the self proclaimed Johnny Hockey to Hockey Town USA along with a really sold player in Nash made this a must do. We expect that #1 to be the last pick of the first round so parting with it wasn't a deal breaker. We have made our statement that Detroit is here and we are coming for you. Johnny Gaudreau the former college hockey player of the year is headed to Hockey Town.

FROM THE POINT: Detroit is at it again. For the second time this month the Mustangs have added star power. Pekke Rinne after league review is headed to Hockey Town. John Anthony released the following statement regarding the deal " We have wanted Rinne for a long time now and we were able to land him, Marks and Steve's are two very young and good players who we planned to build with but when a hall of famer is at the door you have to open it and let em in. We love our chances to solidify a playoff spot and have a big time run with this deal and the one we made a few weeks back" After league approval Pekke Rinne is on his way to Detroit

FROM THE POINT:
For the second straight season the Mustangs are playoff bound. For the second straight season they open against Edmonton. Last year the team from Alberta stunned Detroit in 5 games ending their historic season by mid April. "It was up and down all year but we got into the top 3 and are ready to start the second season" Jon Anthony stated... Mustangs Captain Logan Couture is well aware of what happened last year and the quick exit Edmonton handed them..."We have not forgot about it and we are right back here and ready, this team has heart and we are going to get it going" Couture stated. The Mustangs closed out the regular season with a 7, 3 and 5 stretch that secured their spot in the tournament. The moves made during the year are all paying off and Mustang Sally Rides again in Edmonton Wednesday Night.

FROM THE POINT: In stunning fashion Logan Couture the current GHL playoff MVP leads the Mustangs in one of the franchises most unbelievable and improbable victories to advance Detroit to the conference finals. Mustang Sally is riding full steam ahead after a comeback 6-5 OT victory to end Seattle in 5 and get Detroit into their match up with Cleveland. “I said it before we hit the ice in Edmonton that this team had something to prove and that’s just what we are doing” Mustangs Captain Logan Couture stated as he left the ice in Seattle Friday night. The Barons await as Mustang Sally rides on. Logan Couture has led a historic playoff run for Detroit.
