Couture is a proven playoff performer. He led all players in assists and points during the Barons' 1st Cup run. I'm sure he'll be out for blood against his old team.

FROM THE POINT:
It is over in Hockey Town. Detroit goes down in crushing fashion with yet another OT loss to the defending Cup Champs. No heads should be hanging today as the Mustangs begin their exit interviews with possible GM of the year John Anthony. The transformation the past few seasons has been fun to watch. Detroit went from a yearly playoff watcher to a legit contender. The future remains bright for the Mustangs who have formulated a plan and have continued to execute it. Some faces won't be returning next year as John Anthony will most surely be saying goodbye to the likes of Marleau, Pateryn, Oduya, Staal and Yandle. We will also pay close attention to the Mathew Tkachuk trade rumors that never seem to end.
"Yeah, heartbroken is what we are right now, the Barons are just an amazing team and my bet to go back to back and win this thing again, It's going to be a short summer, next season starts now. We have a few very tough decisions to make moving forward with our guys but we are excited to see some of our youngsters crack the line up next year" John Anthony stated this morning in a brief conference call.
Mustang Sally gave us a hell of a ride this spring, they ride again in the fall.

From The Point:
Draft day has arrived and the Mustangs have two picks entering the first round. What will the off-season be after another successful Detroit season? Do they buy or do they sell? At the deadline John Anthony traded the most of his assets, but now many holes need plugging. Mustang Sally has come to the cross roads of contention after finally building a consistent playoff performer.
But as we have seen in recent years with shrewd trades and excellent drafting is that we can never count Detroit out.
Ride Sally Ride....

From The Point:
The 2020 draft dust has settled and with their final pick at 55 it looks like the Mustangs draft is over. “Unbelievable!” Was the quote from John Anthony when asked how he thinks the draft shook out.
Detroit was able to amass 6 picks in the first two rounds, two of those picks were landed after they gave up a 2021 1st rd pick. The Mustangs jumped on Emil Bemstrom, the slick scoring winger with the 17th overall pick they snagged in the Logan Couture trade. At 24 hulking dman Vlad Gavrikov was selected. Seattle started shopping picks 35 and 37 and that’s when things got interesting. Detroit, after sending their 2021 1st round pick to Seattle grabbed defenders Gus Lidstrom and Joe Keane. “When Gus and Joey were still there we had to roll the dice, we came up 7s and we couldn’t be more pumped. These kids would be 1st rounders next year. We got them as 2s” President and GM John Anthony gushed.
Bemstrom, Gavrikov and Lidstrom are expected to make the Mustangs opening night roster with Keane being about a year away from making the big club. The Mustangs final picks of the 2nd were hot prospects in defenseman Yegor Rykov (44) and goalie Gilles Senn (55).
Trader John didn’t disappoint and with a few key pieces yet to be obtained during UFA Mustang Sally is riding into the 20/21 at a thundering pace.

From The Point:
Disaster in Detroit. Mustang Sally blows 3-0 lead and fall in 7 to Seattle. What a comeback from the green and white as the Mustangs PK was no where to be found during the series. Detroit who finished 1 point behind the division champs Colorado now join the Pioneers with an unexpected early exit. It may seem that the window for the Stangs may have closed and big changes may be coming this offseason. "we built this club to win now and play well into the spring, obviously this was not the case and we are all very disappointed" CEO Jon Anthony stated shortly after his team left the ice and 2020-2021 season.
A re brand? A new roster?...As always buckle up, Sally shall ride again.
