After one week some observations This has become very much a haves and haves not League Playing Chicago and a few also rands are stat games The Campbell conference might have a few 90 plus point teams not making the playoffs while in the junior division that would get u a minimum 5 or 6 seed

I think Chicago and Edmonton are fine if their cap space is used to targets UFAs. I would be more concerned with them if they had the lack of talent they do (especially Chicago) and a bunch of their cap was tied up. This can easily be fixed next year with an active owner or league interaction/intervention if no bids are being made. This year though, they are on par with a very very bad expansion team.

How else am I supposed to make the playoffs? Even with those teams I likely won’t make it.

AS I've said from years of experience in sim leagues in baseball and now hockey--and repeated myself ad infinitum on these boards--the devil is the crystal ball we all have.
1. Unlike real GMs, we can't delude ourselves at the beginning of the year that we have a shot at making the playoffs. The numbers are too obvious, and the injury ratings set. Real GMS don't know a guy is going to get hurt. And real GMs get fired for sucking as bad as some of us routinely do. 2. Strategically, in general, you have to be a moron to finish in the middle. You can plainly see that you can't beat Cleveland or Boston or Alaska, and Herb Brooks is not going to come back from the dead for another miracle on ice. 3. Therefore, we have two-directional competition. A group of teams trying to use the crystal ball to be atrocious for one or two years, and the other group trying to make a perfect team. 4. This makes for de facto collusion, buyers at the top, sellers at the bottom. The irony is the market sucks for guys dumping players because ten teams are "competing" for lottery picks. No value to holding average players. 5. Franchise points a great step, but not powerful enough for someone to choose mediocrity over lottery balls. 6. Glad to see a trade vetoed. Trade Sharks a major unbalancer.

Thanks, good sir.
To be perfectly honest, I’d rather be closer to the bottom of the standings for another season, but off-season trade talks couldn’t break my way so I figured I’d try to push for a playoff spot. I’ll likely come up short, but at least I’m learning a bit more about how to construct a team that can beat others.

Sorry I was wrong about one or two teams getting 90 plus points and not making the playoffs in the Campbell conference but I was correct on the dominance with a probably record 7 out of the 8 teams getting over 100 points ... Montreal wins 12 out of 17 and they make it 8 for 8 ....
