As I am scouring league rosters in search of suitable trade partners, I happen upon Boston rather early in my alphabetical adventure only to observe that Chris' squad shows both a negative balance in terms of cap compliance as well as having six goalies under contract. Yes, one of them is a prospect, but he's signed to a dollar figure that hits his cap until 2023. Digging a little deeper (sorry Chris), I learned that Barzal (signed for 1M) and Cirelli (650 K) combined for 4 snipes and a total of ten points, tied for 2nd in playoff points for BOS. MTL Mike and I dont often see eye to eye and I get why, but if he was inadvertently or otherwise rooked out of a well earned shot at hoisting some hardware this year, I think we need an explanation and a discussion about remedy.
Feel free to educate me.

I think prospect goalies aren’t included in the goalie count, just as their contracts don’t hit the cap. Don’t know about the other stuff.

yup, youre right. Seems odd that a guy can be signed to a dollar figure without counting against your 50 man roster but its a rule, so no circumvention there. Not trying to pile on Chris here, just making observations and looking for answers

Not trying to pile on Chris here, just making observations and looking for answers I bumped it for Chris. He put Raanta on LTIR and it never got processed. That explains him being over the cap.

Brian I dont get the math...like I said, feel free to educate. Raanta's cap hit is not the 1.23 M he's over.

Brian I dont get the math...like I said, feel free to educate. Raanta's cap hit is not the 1.23 M he's over. He made a deal for Hainsey near the deadline. That put him over the cap. That’s when he put Raanta on LTIR. That would put him comfortably under the cap. Unfortunately, that LTIR move was never processed by Glenn so it shows that he’s above the cap on the site.

Brian hit the nail on the head with the Hainsey deal. In order to acquire him, I had to put Raanta on LTIR. That transaction did not get processed and I didn’t notice. To make note, Raanta has been on my minor league roster and did not dress nor play during any game this season.

Brian I dont get the math...like I said, feel free to educate. Raanta's cap hit is not the 1.23 M he's over. Raanta's cap hit is $3.6M, placing him on waivers more than covers the amount Boston is over the cap

Yes, this was my oversight. Adding Rantta to LTIR books now (as I should have done when the deal was made).
