Good time to cite this example and get clarification...
All season, Alaska has been on auto pilot lineup and as such the sim only selected 2 of his 5 eligible goalies - he has a total of SEVEN but 2 are exempt from counting as they are prospects.
Back to the sim selection
The during the regular season the sim selected between the 2 best goalies somehow, with an almost 50/50 split - the better goalie Kuemper playing 3 more games than DeSmith.
The lessor goalies of Wilcox, Husso and Nagle were never selected by the sim.
NOW with Kuemper out for one THIN game due to injury, what is the sim to do?
Play DeSmith 100%?

If memory serves, it will first take stock of all goalies that are up on the big squad and deteRmine starter based on play percentage. If there are none it will go fishing in the unassigned/minor bin and bring top 2 goalies back and then randomly determine which one plays on a given night.

In re-reading my previous post I wasn't as clear as I could have been. When it goes fishing it brings back the top 2 highest rated goalies.

Just to be clear, as I understand you before you took away my ability to chat during last nights game lol....
"Just as I suspected, (Alaska) must have called up a goalie"
and this is you explaining why #3 Wilcox was dressed and #1 goalie Kuemper was benched - that Alaska 'called up' Wilcox?
He has been running on autopilot like forever so NOW he 'calls up' a goalie?
and then IF HE DID manually call up a Goalie in the playoffs, he is equally unaware that his #1 Goalie is only going to be out for one game and then he DOSENT put him back in?
so is it the codes fault? Lack of Coding? A live person and not the code 'called up' Wilcox and didn't put Kuemper back in?
or other?

I didn't call up anyone if that helps with what you're trying to think through

Also, congrats Brian. Almost decided to enter a lineup but figured I'd stay the course. Good luck

I didn't call up anyone if that helps with what you're trying to think through We're wondering why the engine didn't automatically insert Kuemper back into the lineup after he returned from his injury. The way I understand the logic, he should have been selected as one of the top two goalies in your system and then been given at least a 50% chance of playing. However, after returning to full health, the engine never even selected him as a eligible goalie. I think you would have been better off filling your lineup but it's hard to argue 6 regular season losses. I do not like auto fill and I'm hoping it's severely limited by some means next season but you had a hell of a run employing it's usage. I think playing players out of position, especially centers, and not playing your #1 goalie was your demise.

OK, I have taken a few minutes of my lunch to review the goalie selection code and I can see why Keupmer was not selected. The selection and sorting conditions the code uses is in the first section above. The key to focus on is the order statement on the end. It will order by guys assigned to the big league squad first, in this case none were called up, the spos1 field next which is the percent of play assigned to each goalie and lastly by their total card points. Whenever Keumper was injured, the code will automatically set the amount of playing time to 0. I checked, this was the first time he has been injured in several years. When it set this to 0, and because the default setting is 000 when sorted in descending order, will appear at the bottom of the list. If he would have been injured during the regular season this would have manifested itself at that time. I also included the same block of code for the current Cleveland goalie selection. You can see this it ordered the 2 guys who are called up and on the big squad first even though Glass has a 100% play time (he is not called up). We probably never saw this happen prior as this was the first year that guys heavily used letting the sim set their lines for them.

So, this is goalie specific because it does not happen with skaters, lesson learned...

So, this is goalie specific because it does not happen with skaters, lesson learned... Correct. There is no starting percentage on anyone else but the goalies.

Also, congrats Brian. Almost decided to enter a lineup but figured I'd stay the course. Good luck Thanks, Chris. I thought our teams matched up pretty well. I just got lucky that Pavelski got hurt and with the goalie code. Congrats on your historic season!
