We do have to realize, however, that if a player plays 19 games in the NHL and has an incredible run, the result may be a usable card that we won't be able to use.

I thought NHL teams only owned the rights to prospects they drafted and that it was not uncommon to see a team not sign one of their (Especially late round) prospects.

And that's essentially what our rules allow, but they still draft the player.

Just so that some of us don't jump off the deep end, how is this draft comparing to others in terms of speed? Maybe it's only me but 1.5 rounds in a week isn't great progress.

ok, I thought getting fewer than 20 picks done in the first full weekend seemed pretty slow.

I think in some previous years we made it through a significant portion of the draft in the early draft window. Some years we have struggled to clear 2 rounds in a week. All good though because once the clock starts its not waiting on anyone.

I feel like there was at least one year where the whole draft got finished before the early window ended, not even sure if I was around for that one.

Belay my last. Jake is not working, I just text him and he will be making his own pick after JP.

I think this year's draft meal theme must be escargot.

Bob is 3 hours behind time zone wise so I will wait until 11:00 our time to shoot him a text to make sure he is aware he is up.

I hear it was 120 in Death Valley yesterday. Not technically draft related but that's only a couple hours away from Vegas, right?

It was definitely over 100 here in eastern Washington. Awful. Also sorry for the hold ups over the past few days. We’re painting the outside of the house and then our dishwasher (less than a year old) somehow got an air lock in one of the lines or something. I had to damn near take the whole thing apart.
