I don't have patience nor time to look for the correct place/search method for this topic...maybe someone can relocate this thread after I post it up...
I write this without any prejudice or ill will towards the creator and/or our contributors. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, that I only wish to understand the creation process and learn why the process does what it does. I am NOT insinuating, accusing, insulting or instigating...
Here's my question/issue
As I peruse the Team Pages and the player cards for potential UFA pick up's or trade partners, time and time I come across questionable player attributes. For example, I come across players(forwards) whose attribute for SPEED is at a 4, when I know this player is much faster than a 4. I've seen GRITTY players whose GRIT # is far below that of NON-GRITTY players. I've come across goaltenders whose player card attribute #'s do not add up to the TOTAL AGGREGATE # on the players card.
Point being, certain attributes of players DO NOT change as often as I/We see them change in the GHL. Speed, Grit, IQ, Strength...these do not have such disparity from season to season. These categories won't see such drastic change until a player is at his career end or is nursing an injury unbeknownst to us.
Hits, Goals, Shooting %(Gaols), Shots(Attempts), Passing(Assists), these type attributes will fluctuate because these are TANGIBLE STATS that have direct correlations to Card Creation/Generation.
WHY do we have such fluctuation in a players speed from season to season? WHY is there such drastic fluctuation in categories that DO NOT fluctuate much at all?
IMO, Speed, IQ, Awareness, Vision, Grit, Strength, Quickness ARE attributes for a particular player that should be more uniform for EACH PLAYER. There should only be minor fluctuation for EACH PLAYER as their particular/individual career is affected by such things as Injuries, Age, Playing Time/Demotion.
WHY, WHY, WHY are we seeing these drastic Fluctuations in a players MAIN COMPONENT ATTRIBUTES? These attributes are a INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS MAKEUP/SKILLSET...They do not change this much. Game to Game, yes they do...but if you make a SPEEDSTER in the NHL ( Scale 1-10 where 10 is Blazing Fast ie:McDavid ) a 4, and a guy is NOT known to be fast suddenly an 8...that takes away reality for me.
EXAMPLES: ( ONLY USING SUFFOLK ROSTER )
Comparing two like player types ( apples to apples )
DeBrusk - Strength=6 Quickness=7 Speed=4 Grit=4 IQ=7 Hits=5 = 33 Neutral Score- Card Reflects Neutral Score = 61
Svechnikov- Strength=8 Quickness=7 Speed=7 Grit=7 IQ=6 Hits=7 = 42 Neutral Score- Card Reflects Neutral Score = 76
Lemieux - Strength=4 Quickness=5 Speed=5 Grit=5 IQ=5 Hits=8 = 32 Neutral Score- Card Reflects Neutral Score = 54
Wilson - Strength=7 Quickness=5 Speed=6 Grit=7 IQ=6 Hits=7 = 38 Neutral Score- Card Reflects Neutral score = 80
My synapses on these cards: Svechnikov and DeBrusk are similar type players. Obviously, different stats for the 20-21 season which are reflected in their respective OFFENSE and DEFENSE categories.
STRENGTH- debatable that Svech is stronger, but not a key issue.
QUICKNESS- not an issue.
SPEED- a 3 Point difference here...I see an issue, as Debrusk is a better/faster skater than a 4. One of his stronger attributes is his speed. I'm not saying he is faster than a 7, but he is faster than a 4.
GRIT-I don't have issue with 4 Grit for DeBrusk. Svech might be awarded a bit high, but not much.
IQ- I won't discuss this category, I don't have the mental fortitude to elaborate.
HITS- Purely a stat driven attribute.
There should be a closer aggregate # for the Neutral Category for the two players here. Most of the categorical #'s here are attributes that do not fluctuate much, with exception of Hits.
Comparing Wilson and Lemieux is interesting. Just by looking at the Neutral Score #'s, you would think you'd have a similar player card with the exception of strength in favor of Wilson. Which, I feel the strength category for Wilson would be a click or two higher. 6 Points separate the overall Neutral Score, yet Lemieux's Card puts him 26 Points lower on his card.
DeBrusk's SPEED # has gone from a 7 two seasons ago, to a 4 this season. Has he lost a step already at age 24? It doesn't seem realistic to me, that his speed went that low so quickly. His Skillset is still his skillset. Speed being one of his only qualities that he didn't lose last season. Everything else shit the bed, no doubt. A General knock all around isn't realistic. You can still skate fast and not accomplish a damn thing, as he proved so during the past season.
I don't see why player attributes fluctuate so much in the GHL. These are the most steadiest of all player card generations, yet seem to always be fluctuating.
When you come back at my lengthy rant, PLEASE dumb it down for me. Do not get technical, as I will only blow past your response and once again, have to repeat myself thinking that my rant was not answered with any credible reply.
