With free agency just about to close, current power rankings from The Mad Chatter Magazine:
1. Alaska Polar Bears - the unanimous choice for the top spot. Three great offensive lines, with 7(!) players 90 or above offensive rating. Add that to three solid defensive pairs and a goalie in MAF, it's no wonder the Polar Bears were the unanimous pick.
2. Oregon Mighty Ducks - One of two teams to receive 2nd place votes, the expansion Mighty Ducks boast the league's most balanced roster. Although they might not have the offensive firepower of the Polar Bears or Suffolk Stampede, Oregon has the better defense. In addition to their depth, they also have two great goalies, which is the reason they were voted number 2 ahead of...
3. Suffolk Stampede - The Stampede have the offensive talent to match Alaska in the goalie scoring department headlined by Auston Matthews and Roope Hintz. Suffolk also has a top 4 that could rival any other in the league. They have two good, but not great goaltenders, and a 3rd defensive pairing that is a little weaker than the top 2 teams.
4. Hartford - Top 9 forwards and all defensive pairings are all solid. Grubauer in goal gives them a chance to win any game. Key for the Mariners will be staying healthy as 6 of their top 15 players have a 7 fortitude or lower. Stay healthy and they could give Suffolk a challenge to win the Campbell conference.
5. Colorado - With arguably the best line in the league, the Pioneers #1 line averages out a 97/50 to go along with their top defensive pair of Hedman and Carlson. The offensive talent on line 2 is almost just as good. GHL rookie goalie Sorokin will have to answer the bell with #1 and #2 in the power rankings in their division.
