“The cost of doing business in the G”, as Scotty put it, really demonstrates what trade deadline day should be all about. When you are in position to possibly win the whole shebang, upgrading at any position means that you will be trading some component of your future to challenge for a chance at GHL glory. Scotty recognizes that he is poised to hoist the hardware and made some big decisions to that end. Winning now won’t come without a cost and with parity at the top of the league being what it is, it should surprise nobody that the cost of winning won’t come cheap. You don’t buy porches with pocket change or penny candy.
I hope we see more moves like New York made in the future, particularly from clubs in proximity of the winner’s circle. Good stuff Mr.Jones…
