Statistically, Quebec should have pumped the lowly Flames, doubling up their eastern counterparts in shots, while holding a distinct advantage in terms of skill. Somehow, we squeezed out a win with Tage Thompson— the victim of a flagrant missed call that should’ve sent Letang to the box— potting the winner on the power play in the third.
I doubt we’d be able to take a series to seven games against Quebec but the fact that neither a win nor a loss is a bankable proposition when we deal with probability makes it worth playing. There’s an appropriate amount of ‘randomness’ engineered into the sim to make it impossible to predict anything with absolute certainty and I think Glenn got it right. Kudos to the commish!

I couldn't agree more. I have listened to guys lament over losing to a team they should've stomped for as long as this league has been in existence but the fact is, teams we think should win easily, don't always in hockey or any other sport. New Jersey shut me down a couple of nights ago the game after I beat Suffolk. I wasn't expecting either of those things to happen. What would March madness be without a Cinderella team? Sure, these things don't happen all the time, nor should they, but they happen both here and IRL and I think the balance is very accurate. I've said it many times and it remains true to this day. This is by far the best hockey league I've ever been involved with! This is only one of the reasons I love this league. Very well said, Owen.
