I signed Karel Vejmelka as a UFA. This will be his first pro contract. Will he be an RFA once the deal is up regardless of his first contract length or is there a maximum length for RFA eligibility after the first contract is up? I know the ELC is 3 years and RFA after which is why I'm asking.
Does this also go for minor league players entering their first pro contract?

Yes, I think he would be, same as me and Brandon Tanev when I first signed him.

If a player has never had a pro contract in the G, they will have RFA status after their first contract is up regardless of length. The caveat to pay attention to would be his age at the expiration of that contract. If he turns 30, he will be an RFA III and his compensation value will be considerably lower.
Regarding minor league deals... if these players have had a pro contract prior to the minor league deal, they will be UFA after you sign them as that will be their 2nd pro contract. If they have no previous pro contract, they will be RFA.

Scott, are you sure a UFA Signing gets RFA Status ? I don’t think that’s correct. I was under the impression that any UFA Signing would be a UFA after contract expiration, regardless if it were first contract.

From the contracts section of the rulebook:
"RFA II and RFA III - These are players who have completed their first Major league contract who were not drafted. This means they were picked up in UFA or as part of the initial league bidding when teams were built. Once their first Major league contract expires they are RFAs as well but the owning team has to match 90% of the offered contract to retain. The difference between the II and III designation is players age as of 7/1 during the FA period. Those under the age of 30 are RFA IIs while those 30 or over on that date are RFA IIIs. The difference between the two is the amount of compensation that needs to be paid in order to sign one of these with the RFA II being a much steeper price."
