Can't keep lebda he's on a minor league contract, you have no retaining right to minor leaguers if they don't have a card

Scott, what's the deal with Ryan Russel - I don't see him on your roster to drop.

All good, he fell off because he was a RFA with no card, I didn't realize his status when I posted him.

The curious case of Ivan Telegin. He didn't make the Winnipeg Jets out of training camp and they sent him down to the AHL. Only problem is that Telegin never reported to St. John's and went back to Russia. Since he was under contract the Jets suspended him, which meant he couldn't play in the KHL. Apparently he was dealing with some concussion issues and, even after the Jets lifted the suspension and loaned him to a KHL team, he never played a game this season.
Finding news on him has been pretty difficult. I read something a month or two ago that he would come back this year, but then I just read something else that he signed for two years in the KHL. I have rescinded any retaining rights. Since he was on his entry level contract I have decided to waive him for free.

** PROCESSED ** - Note you may wish to trade Bradley to some team that doesn't have a waiver to make and send a 5th along for their trouble as he still is under contract for you I have a question. According to this link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Bradley Matt Bradley last played in Europe albeit for a short time during which he suffered a concussion that has basically ended his career. Does that mean I can drop him? Either as an injury or a player in Europe?
It says
With the 2012 NHL lockout in affect, and with limited interest, Bradley signed a month-by-month contract with Finnish second division club, TuTo Hockey on October 29, 2012.[4] After just one game with TuTo, Bradley suffered another concussion and opted to end his agreement and return to Canada for rehabilitation on November 5, 2012.[5]
He never played again

According to his career stats, his last game was played at the NHL level, which is why he cannot be dropped and must be waived. However, it's not a heavy contract or waiver fee so really you could just hold his contract for another year, it's not crippling by any means or you can move him as Glenn suggested.

The game he played in Europe must have been pre-season or something, I just looked him up on hockeydb and his last season played was 2011-12 in 45 games with Florida, thus he cannot be retained or dropped.

Scott and Alex, even if his last game was in the NHL he could be dropped for free if he was considered injured. The problem with him is there is not much info and what I found leads me to believe he is retired, which means he must be waived using the one time waiver. When I did research for Glenn this is what I found: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=9093Notice "Status: Retired" when I did these for Glenn some guys like this didn't clearly say retired on THN which is why I had to use Wikipedia or EliteProspects. At 36 years old and two years out of hockey, it's probably safe to assume he's done. Even Wikipedia says he's a "former" player. It looks like his career did end due to concussions, however he is still retired at this point which means a waiver (with fee) must be used. I didn't make the final decision on these guys, I highlighted them and added my notes and suggestion (retired) so Glenn could make the final call. On a side note for the future.. If you have a guy who is getting up there in age and gets injured for a full season, dropping for free before they officially retire may be something to keep in mind, especially if you doubt they will ever come back (such as concussion issues). Alex I know this isn't your fault, it's just one of those things that comes with taking over a team that wasn't really managed for a couple years. There were actually a few guys in their mid 20s on the list that were officially retired.

Buying out the last year of Scott Gomez's 5 year deal. 4,320,000 /.9 = 4,800,000 - 4,320,000 = one time cap hit of: 480,000
