Concerning players on your roster who are not signed to a pro contract. This was mentioned to me by a wise man who shall remain nameless to protect the identity of the wizard behind the curtain.
I have been talking advantage of us being allowed to use a minor league player on my pro roster and then signing him the following year as it saves on cap dollars. From the looks of the earlier post regarding these players used last season, most of us have. There is a big risk involved in this that I had not considered and I wanted to share just in case others had overlooked this as well. I did this with Klinkhammer last year and while he is no superstar in the making, he was a valuable piece in my bottom six and even used him on the powerplay at times. If by chance, he had gotten hurt in pre season and didn't play this season, thereby having no card this year, I would have lost all rights to him because he was technically not under contract with the Amerks. Just something to think about when using these players.
