With opening night vs Hamilton coming Saturday for the Aces at the old barn in the Adirondack mountain region …. We caught up with GM Sly Pizone for his preseason thoughts on the team …..” well let’s start off by saying the off season was not an easy one for this organization but we felt we acquired and signed the proper players to take the Aces to the next level …. This season will be a strange one in the fact we usually are competing against the now champ Halifax and Boston for a division title but this season it looks like Hartford will be the foe we will be competing with for the division ….preseason predictions has this organization as the 3rd best in conference 2nd best in the division, We will try to do better then predicted and We will add a 3rd 100 plus point season in the last 4 yrs to our resume…..the players are ready ,we have one of the best goalers in the game and we as an organization are ready to step back into that winners circle that comes with holding that cup up high …. All gas !!! No breaks !!!!

The Aces are proud to announce a trade that took place earlier today ….. GM Sly Pizone is now at the podium let’s listen in ……”with our lack of depth at the forward position we felt this was needed to address that ,through the deal we made this morning… coming back to the Adirondack mountains is Jay Beagle a former cup winner for the Aces who scored the winner in OT to help bring down the Pharos in the conference finals back in 2015 …. Another deal with Oregon for Ryan Hartman could not be worked out so it’s a dead deal

Sly Pizone GM of the Aces put out a press release today after yet another trade and it was very very revealing ….”Its with great anticipation that we got this deal done and this particular player , after falling short to acquire Ryan Hartman …. Welcome Frank Vatrano , we have been after this player for over a year and a half now and finally got our man …. Even though he will be a UFA next season with 62 games left in the season we felt it was very important to acquire a player of his ilk … Frank will fit nicely on the 3rd line bumping Rocco Grimaldi to the 4th line and he also moves into the LW position on the 2nd PP unit …. Forsberg has been dropped from the PP unit for the time being ….we are sorry to see Eric Brannstrom go ,but after that last altercation with Josi of the NY Americans , his bad attitude was not welcome here any longer we wish him and the Mustangs well but that’s not the example we want to set as an organization we will leave that Horse Shit to the Tom Wilson’s of the world …this is after all the Adirondacks not Long Island … After a quarter of the season passing We as an Organization fully expect to not only win this division, win this conference but make the GHL Finals , that’s the goal and anything short will be a failure…. Once making the finals it all depends on who the opponent is … with all this said it’s all Gas No Breaks as stated previously this season … the only question I have left is for my conference… Can you Stop Me ?

It’s been a great season ,unfortunately it didn’t end the way I would like it too but a big congratulations goes out to Chris for assembling a high flying , relentless team that doesn’t stop shooting the puck and scoring ……looking fwd to a summer of building back better and making Adirondack Hockey Great Again , good luck Stampede I’ll be rooting for u to take down that other conference

As the Adirondack Aces start the 22/23 season we caught up with GM Sly Pizone at the practice rink …..” well it’s been a roll coaster of a summer ,the last 3 plus months “….retooling this squad that has had back to back 100 plus point seasons and took home a division banner last season ,wasn’t easy by any means ….. we say goodbye to a big chunk of what made us great , Pietrangelo , Kulikov, Vatrano all ufa’s not resigned …Whitecloud , Bonino both traded ….Zajac retired…
But now for the good news and buzz ,on who we signed and brought in to the mountains of northern New York ….resigned goalie James Reimer , first ever draft pick I made will end his career in an Aces uni, that also goes for UFA resigned Filip Forsberg acquired yrs ago in a trade with the Beavers , this winger plans on hitting the 60 goal plateau this year, UFA ,Anders Lee , 47 tallies last season , a 2nd rounder in 2013 who was traded away is coming home , he also plans on ending his career in an Aces uni… UFA, Wideman is back in the GHL from the KHL to man the back line , UFA ,Derek Ryan brought in to be the 3rd line center ,big big seasons are expected from these players ….Dman Nate Schmidt and Rw Teuvo Teravainen both traded for are coming in to fill big shoes but have the cachet to do it …. We are still in negotiations to bring back winger Miles Wood who was cut and a cap causality …. But unfortunately he signed with Boston , So as u can see it’s been a tiring last few months assembling what we feel will be a team to take a division crown 👑 with another 100 plus point season after that the playoffs are always a last man standing tournament so here is to another Glorious Aces Season !!!!

We caught up with Gm Sly Pizone at the mountain practice rink ….. “ we don’t know what the GHL commish has in mind ,when he adjusted rules ,because Our scoring is rivaling the ‘80’s Oilers …. With that said we hope the rules weren’t changed too much because this team is scoring goals by the bucket load ….I guess the commish doesn’t like it when a 35 yr old 3rd line center is scoring a goal a game lol 😂

We caught up with Gm Sly Pizone post game vs Alaska ….. “ well they are a quality team and where in the finals vs the mighty Stampede , with that said , taking down an undefeated team and cup finalist , by a 10-2 score is mind boggling, this team is clicking on all Cylinders and like the Stampede of last year are an out-of-control locomotive…as long as we stay healthy , this should be fun !!!!

Big trade went down today with Moncton, we say goodbye to Filip Forsberg, it was a very difficult decision,Filip was a big part of this team for almost 4 1/2 yrs but with the need for defense and since scoring hasn’t been a problem we felt this trade was necessary…. We welcome Tomas Hertl & Reese Johnson , Tomas will center the second line and is enjoying a great yr we think he can be better , with a look towards next season we know he will be …. Reese brings depth and toughness this team is lacking and will need come playoff time …. And the 2 3rd rounders , that should be in the top 8 picks of the round , should make for trade bait as we will look to upgrade our defense either now or when teams start realizing there playoff dreams are shot and look to get something for a soon to be UFA …. So don’t be shy I’m looking to trade one or both picks and a defenseman for a big upgrade at the position….. this is Gm Sly Pizone , Happy New Years GHL !!!!

Well here at the Adr mountain press , the Aces season has been a rollercoaster ride , starting off 22-8-1 now going 14-14-2 since ….. we caught up with GM Sly Pizone on his thoughts and trade deadline deals …. Well let’s start off and welcome Vincent Trocheck to the Aces , he was the center man we really should have signed in last yrs off season , also welcome NY native Patrick Brown as well as tough as nails winger Carrick and not to mention Leddy who is a pro D-man who gives up depth ….let’s not sugar coat things , the trade of Forsberg for Hertl on new yrs eve didn’t work out as planned , we went 13-12-1 in that 26 game stretch and Forsberg has been missed , but we also took into account the future with him and how he’s always getting hurt and not playing 82 games or close to it and that’s why we took a shot with Hertl , with that said we were fortunate to pivot in another direction and get Vinnie T. , we are hoping he works out better then the last 2nd line center , winning the division won’t be easy and facing possibly Baltimore or Cornwall in round one won’t be either but reaching goal number 1 - win div goal 2- 100 point season is what we are striving for at the moment after that in the playoffs we will set new goals , until the playoff tourney begins let’s have a strong 21 game finish !

Well we caught up with GM Sly Pizone finally , he was disappointed in a first round ousting last year but was in agreement ,the goaltending and defense wasn’t up to snuff , “ yes was a disappointment last year the way things ended …. But lets move forward looking at this years addition… we are coming off a division crown and 3 straight 100 plus point seasons & 4 out of 5 in that category…. The Aces welcome back Teuvo Teravainen to be a top 6 fwd , gone are long time Ace center ,Lars Eller and also defenseman Goligoski who in his 3 yr stay here was plus 104 …we welcome Rasmus Ristolainen and Erik Gustafsson defenseman who will add grit and offense ….also the big trade acquisition of Alex Georgiev , a goalie that was much needed in upgrading the defense behind the crease ….other additions were minor bottom 6 fwds like Warren Foegele ,Hudson Fasching , Denis Malgin and depth defenseman Kale Clague …. All in all a nice offseason with a few minor tweaks and one big major tweak in net with Alex , the Aces have some stiff competition in the division with Halifax and Quebec looking strong …. Should be a great season though in the mountains ⛰️ “ and that’s a wrap from the mountain press !!!

Finally we at the mountain ⛰️ press got a hold of Gm Sly Pizone , he wasn’t in a great mood and didn’t have much to say ….. Are u happy with the season so far ….. NOT AT ALL !!! Are u building for next season or this season …. BOTH , doing it on the fly ! ….. Anything else to add ? ….. We needed to improve our defense and feel we did that , the last 5 weeks have been a rollercoaster 🎢 are we in or are we out, well I owed it to this team and myself WE ARE ALL IN !!!! and have a 2nd rounder in this years draft to boot , so mission accomplished !!!!

We at the mountain press interviewed GM Sly Pizone after practice today ….. “ the season on a whole wasn’t what we thought it would be but that’s over ,a new season has begun and we feel we matchup well against a division foe in Halifax , they are a quality team finishing first overall in our conference so our work is cut out for us …. I feel we have a fighting chance to have a better second season then regular season , we have the guns and horses to get us where we want to go “

We caught up with a few of the players after practice today and the mountain press came away with this ....speaking to last years rocket 🚀 Richard award winner and scoring champ , Chris Krieder , last yr was very disappointing we came into the playoffs as one of the best scoring teams in the league and i personally didn't come through , we plan on changing that this season ..... team capt JT Miller went on to say , the Huskies are one of the top teams in the league but so are we the last few yrs so the disrespect we receive is head scratching but motivates us . We need to stay out of the sin bin and take advantage of our goalie matchup vs theres , being opportunistic and playing sound defense will win this series vs a very tough team in Halifax ..... well there u have it , this will be a tough series going seven games , we are hopeful we come out on top !!!!
