www.nhlpa.com/news/1-1...team-payroll-range-for-2018-19Thanks to Chris F. for posting this in another thread, thought it'd be a good idea to post it here. I'm not trying to start anything but at $79.5M, this puts the NHL cap 2 million above ours. The problem I have seen with this and pointed out in the past is that we have 22 more players to fit under the cap than the NHL does. Yes, I understand the point made by many that higher cap only raises overpaying for free agents but we want guys making more realistic salaries which in some cases we have seemed some we don't. Josi makes $7.875M in the G and $4M in the NHL. Phil Kessel makes $5.25M in the G and $6.8M in the NHL.

Let's see if this works..
ahem. I think that raising the GHL CAP to mirror the NHL CAP is a VERY BAD idea.

I thought we took the NHL cap # and added a couple million to get the GHL cap.

yep.
1.CAP carryover from last season 2.@ 3 million added to GHL CAP to mirror NHL 3.@ 3 million added to purchase minor league players
temporary inflated CAP by about 3 million
Reconcile CAP by signing long term / salary discounts

We were $2.5M above the NHL cap last year. That's $2.5M for 22 players, basically.
The NHL just raised their cap $4.5M. I might be wrong, but I doubt Glenn will go for our cap being $81.5M, which would give us the very narrow $2.5M additional cap.
The NHL cap last season was $75M for 23 players.
Our cap was $77.5M for 45 players.
Again, I'm not trying to be negative, just pointing it out.

I am fine with raising ours the same amount that the nhl raised theirs. That is our SOP.

I am fine with raising ours the same amount that the nhl raised theirs. That is our SOP. Looks like we’re not even raising it as much as you hoped Phil. Sounds like only 4.5M increase from where we are at now 77.5M to 82M. The extra you are thinking about is the extra small amount we get during UFA to offset savings from long term deals and is taken away after all contracts are figured out I’m pretty sure

3 Million total increase, 4, 4.5, 7.5
I'm ok with any of that actually. No worries.

Yes, if we stay on par with the NHL cap raise of $4.5m, ours will go up from $77.5m to $82m, making the overage for fleshing out rosters, $2.5m. The NHL cap is set at $79.5m for 2018-19

Our cap has been raised to 82M. This is now reflected on the web site.
