AP CORNWALL - From the Cornwall Ice Colosseum, Cornwall CANADA.
The Hershey Bars score four unanswered goals to slash Cornwalls longest unbeaten streak in franchise history. After tallying two quick goals, Cornwall found itself in a tough position of needing to score two more goals to make a comeback and continue it's unbeaten streak, but Bars tender Niemi would have none of it apparently, and shut the door on both the comeback as well as the streak.
After the game, Coach P. Grossman took some questions.
"What happened tonight, and how exactly did the magic of Cornwall's 18 game streak end"?
Well, I'll be honest, the way the boys were playing, I think we all expected to pot 6 or 8 tonight, I'm not gonna lie. But streaks are made to be broken. No such thing as forever, know what I mean. That Bars team played a nice little road game tonight, hats off to em'. Their goalie came up big when they needed it. We had our chances, rang a couple off the posts but it was their night tonight.
"Do you think Luongo had any problems with his old team? Was there incentive for the Bars to play well against him"?
Sure, the old team thing adds extra motivation. Bobby Lou spent quite a bit of time with those guys and I'm sure it was in their heads to try to light him up. That's good hockey right there. Those boys over there may almost be out of it, but you can see that with Crosby on the top line, they can still put em in.
"Looks like you have a game in Hershey coming up real soon so is there revenge on your team's mind'?
Look, I don't know aboot revenge but we will be ready. What scares me more than anything is the team bus has to drive from the airport all the way to the rink on the 'Hershey Highway'. We'd rather take a different road, ya know what I mean. Our boys don't like the thought of having to travel down the Hershey Highway but yes, we'll be ready to go.
"Coach Grossman, can I ask you another question..."
No you may not. Good night gentlemen and good hockey.
