Seems the Crusaders just ran into 2 hot goalies that stood on their heads...
The recent one, a Rampage call-up, had goalie stat catagories of all fours.
Kipper has most stats of 7's and a few 6's.
So.....
basically a shot on goal gets matched up to one of the goalie stats on a given catagory and a random percentage number is generated and if the shot is > than the catagory, then a goal is scored?
Both the Crusaders and Rampage had @ 35 shots on goal......just trying to understand the logic.

Both the Crusaders and Rampage had @ 35 shots on goal......just trying to understand the logic. #1 Shots have a base chance to occur from each of the 32 positions on the ice. #2 This percentage is adjusted upwards or downwards on a lookup table based on the offensive guy's shoot rating versus the defender who is matching up against him defensive rating. #3 If a shot is taken then logic sees if the puck is on net, wide, or blocked. #4 If on net, there is a base chance to score from each position on the ice. #5 The offensive player's shot rating (accuracy) is compared against one of the goalie stats on a table to modify the percentage chance to score up or down. #6 A random number is generated and measured against the chance to score to determine if a goal occurs.

And that's why the Barons traded Thomas (and he was a 90 last year!).

This still doesn’t seem right to me though. Lundqvist had a .915 save % and a hair under 3.0 GAA last year. Not his greatest season but manageable as a clear cut #1. On the other hand his league stats this year are .889 save % and 3.45 GAA. I get there was an issue with one of my defensive pairings for a time but those are horrible stats. And on the other hand Langhammer is at a .918 save % and 2.00 GAA. His 3 AHL games had a .945 but still it’s AHL and 3 starts, with one NHL appearance. With the same team in front of them and enough games to give you a solid sample size the sim is telling me Marek “Czech league” Langhammer (who is 9-2-1 with a flat 40s card) should be my lead horse, and Lundqvist shouldn’t even be considered a viable starting option? I’m beginning to think the sim isn’t just switching my goalies out during penalties but for the entire game.

I have seen this issue for years in the GHL, only wishing I had tracked them for the conspiracy theory because at times, it seems as though goaltenders are being placed in the wrong spot in the program or something. I can't speak intelligently on the computer theory but something is either amiss or certain goaltenders have some incredible luck while others have an extreme lack thereof.

Can throw Dubnyk into the conspiracy circle. 65-71 but cant crack a .900 sv percentagae in 34 games on a 107 point team.

you can always say..."and that's why we play the games", instead of looking at the stats and the matchups and just penciling in the win/score.

I haven't run the numbers but I have a suspicion that if/when I do, I will see goals are up this past yer in the G.
It does boggle the mind and this has been brought up before but when I go through the game debug logs and it says OK, compare goalie A's glove hand (7) with Shooter B's shot Acc (X) rating and I double check the Goalie A's card and see that it is indeed a 7 glove rating (and I note that the backup goalies glove rating is 4) [and I do this for 20 or so goalie interactions in a game] it's a pretty strong argument that the sim is operating as designed in regards to goalies.
I have had similar frustrations on the Pharaohs where Bernier has roughly a .5 GAA better stats then Vasilesky even though his card is significantly poorer.
I can attribute part of this to the fact that he does play against the weaker teams to give Vasilesky a break. This is even more pronounced because in the G there is a wider gap between the haves and the have nots then there is in the NHL.
Also note that the only goalie pulling as the sim currently stands is in the last minute or so of a game if a team is behind. There is no goalie flipping going on at all in this regard.
Also please note that if a goalie is seeing the ice when he is yellow or orange his card stats are reduced for that game. There is nothing currently that tracks a goalies disposition in this regard but this could certainly play into his stats for a season.
