I muse at the way you keep accusing me of saying “it never happens in the NHL” which I NEVER said! You and Scott and a few others, have an issue whereas you can’t keep your stories straight. It was said “If it’s in the NHL, it’s in the GHL.” Then the story went, this is Fantasy and can’t mirror the NHL. You want to point out one or two, three NHL examples and compare them to 20 GHL EXAMPLES! We’ve had several AHL goalies in the GHL dominate over the years. I alone have voiced displeasure with that particular subject three different seasons.
Maybe, instead of running the GHL and an Old Timers league simultaneously…it would be better served at addressing the one league and it’s issues, and then if time warranted, the other.
Yes, there’s a lot of asks to the “window dressing.” The longer we allow things to pile up, the harder it gets to chip away.
I run a poker league for over 15 years with over 55 players and approximately 200 stand bys , a lot more money involved and lot of different personalities…as the owner and with the help of admins we adjust to the needs of our members. We don’t treat them like shit. We don’t ignore their concerns. Belittling your membership with with smart ass comments or not wanting to explain yourself in lowly layman’s terms, because it’s that annoying guy from Suffolk again. You’all keep thinking I’m a soft emotional guy…in actuality I’m quite the opposite. You don’t run a poker room being a pushover. As the President, you should show more respect to your membership.
Is it more money you want? Is it more personal time? Is it assistance? I don’t know……

Adjust to the needs of your members? Are you actually trying to compare running a poker league to creating/running/maintaining this?
What do you consider as adjusting to the needs of your members? Agreeing to get together at 7:15 one particular week as opposed to 7:30? Deciding on what type of playing cards or poker chips the boys want to use? Perhaps what snacks would best suit the dietary tastes of attendees a particular week?
Compare that to spending countless hours over the past 12 years coding/debugging/adding metrics/developing the game viewer. I am not looking for anyone to suck my dick for my efforts but I am expecting people not to act the asshole in return. In my minds eye, that's a small ask. You suggesting that you have any bearing on how I, or anyone else not related to you by marriage or birth, should spend my/their free time has to be a troll attempt. No one could be that big of a jerk right?
The window dressing are league extras/enhancements. They are not to be confused with simulation/league shortcomings (perceived, imagined or real).
Not wanting to explain myself? Multiple times I have offered to personally discuss, or explain any issue that someone has, via a Zoom meeting so these can be resolved. Typing lengthy messages has proven not to work and I won't do it any longer. That doesn't seem like someone who is too aloof to discuss issues.
Lastly, if you, or anyone else for that matter, could please provide some color to the assertion that I treat people like shit it would be appreciated. I am far from perfect but I am willing to improve myself. Being a smart ass is in my nature but I think the two (treating folks like shit/being a smart ass) are not connected at the hip. I remember reading an old Readers Digest some 40 years ago where one of the quotable quotes stuck with me. The QQ was, "The sting of a reproach is the truth of it."

You gave No reason for the card ratings, and said they were prepared by one or more of our members. So, statistically, they could be mis-interpreted by those members. When I was persistent in my approach citing and presenting NHL stats and player comparisons...You said "what would you like me to do? Divvy up the ratings? Which is exactly what you did. No Real Statistical/Coding effort made! Just take all the numbers and divvy them up equally...Just to shut me up! Do you really think I'm going to waste my time with another phone call to try and explain my points? It doesn't appear to me, that you want to hear them, nor entertain them. That's fine...I'll voice my concerns the same as anyone else, on the forum. |

No I don't but you are the one that brought up your poker league and compared your alacrity in running it to my apparently poorly run hockey league. I questioned if the two were even comparable and opposed to replying with your thoughts on why they were, and why you felt comfortable making that comparison and you reply with "you've not a clue about what I do." instead of providing supporting evidence.
Regarding options for freeing up time, I, as well as any grown man IMHO, would not like life coach advice from a non relative unless it was asked for first.

I believe that most folks reading my post would know the difference between acting like an asshole and being an asshole. I would suggest that someone that acts like an asshole most of the time could actually be dubbed an asshole but I generally don't hang out with/associate with the people that act like an asshole more than 50% of the time to be sure.

Don't confuse my frustration in people not understanding what I perceive as simple concepts with getting my panties in a bunch. Using Demko as an example, I did give a reason for the card rating but you didn't understand it. Every owner has the ability to assign sub category ratings (weight wise if not actual number wise since the total of the sub stats is determined by the composite parent score) for future cards. I don't believe as of this writing you have entered anything for Demko yet as latest player rated are shown on the front page of the league website. I asked you what you think the substats should be and made the adjustments accordingly given the caveat that the net change across all substats for the composite score needed to be 0. I won't try to explain it again in detail as to how the net of the change really has minimal/no impact on the player card because of the mostly equal distribution of stats used game in and game out. I made the change for you because it made you feel better about the card and for me/the league because it really didn't adjust his cards value.
