Another wonderful implementation, the "Auto Feature" in this sim.
Not a single Center was selected to play Center. Instead, Wingers with Low FO ratings were auto positioned there...Clearly, I ASSumed the player with the Higher FO rating would be auto-positioned to take the puck drops.
Maybe the Seattle Pantifa Management can explain it to me? I'll anxiously await the response.

Since I’m guessing you mean me, it’s because as Glenn has said before the placement for forwards into the lineup is strictly based on overall stats, not sub stats. No one wants a guy with a 9 face off and a 60-30 card on their top line.
And I was going to point this out in the other thread but I actually don’t like coffee. I’m more of a Red Bull and Libertarian guy.

The picking of replacements is solely based on picking a defenseman or forward when one is needed to fill a hole in the lineup. It was never intended to pick the best absolute match for an open slot or to rearrange lines to accommodate the absence of a player on a top line.
It is there as a stop gap measure only as filling these lineup holes is incumbent on the GM.

Ohh, I see...MAYBE, we should add it to the list of things to improve the SIM but, never actually implement. Just discuss the issues, but not address them. The goaltender issue is going on 8 Years. Years, as you said Glenn. When do you suggest we address it? Perhaps, a Red Bull to help the GHL Goalie Developer, as I believe at least one GHL GM is needing to make decisions and quite possibly to have any ambitions. I've heard, that Red Bull gives you wings...and why wouldn't anyone believe it. It's magical.

This "improvement" would actually have the reverse affect. Nothing disengages owners more than auto picking lineups. This feature is solely for spot filling a roster spot in case of an injury that someone missed due to not checking their lineup. While I agree that if that injury was a Centerman, it would be nice to see it auto filed with another center, the solution would be to be engaged enough to fill the spot manually. Over the years, I've heard every argument for auto fill (simulating the head coach, for example), but I still think this feature promotes disengagement on the owners part. Still, I suppose I couldn't be opposed to auto fill by position, if it were even possible to code

Scott...I agree with you. I was spiting myself and throwing a tantrum.
But, It also has raised an issue with the sim that has been raised in the past.
The OUT OF POSITION PENALTY. I'm not "complaining" but just pointing it out. The example I am thinking about is last season Montreal let the sim auto populate his lineup for at least 10 games. Although, I believe it was most of the season or until someone took him over possibly. He went on a 10 Game Winning streak with his lineup not set and players out of position.
So, I'm discovering or recognizing or questioning, if you will...We have players cards with Attributes that apparently don't really matter. And, we have players playing out of position that supposedly are to receive a 10 Point deduction, but are still dominating in instances, where they shouldn't be. Of course, any team can win on any given night. I just feel as though Montreal's run last season was both improbable and it made me question whether or not his players out of position were penalized/deducted...and if they were deducted/penalized why it didn't have an effect.
I'm sure someone will explain it, and I am certain I won't be able to understand the explanation, and I am sure I will debate the explanation or question it, and then someone will call me a whining complaining something or other.

Boys,
I was trying to find the post from 2.5 years ago that explained the success of Montreal and the auto filling of lineups. I haven't located it yet but if/when I do, I will link to it here for the full breakdown.
Long story short the sim was using inflated calculated values for some skills and these values were overpowering the penalty for playing guys out of position. That was fixed at the time.
