FROM THE POINT:
GM and President John Anthony was busy during this years annual GHL draft as the rebuilding Mustang Sally drafted a total of 9 players. Hopes are high for these picks as 7 of the 9 selections were taken within the first two rounds. John Anthony was quoted as saying "our season was a bust, we expected to be a contender but landed the #10 spot in the draft. We traded some assets and have some important decisions to make now that the draft has ended and FA begins. We hope with this draft class and some more moves we can re tool this thing quickly and get back to the GHL playoffs."
A recap of the Mustangs top draft pics are as follows:
Round 1
pick #21
Zac Bolduc - The offensive forward skates well and can make plays on the move. His hand-eye coordination allows him to finish plays around the net and in tight spaces.
Round 1
pick #32
Drew Commesso - The highly skilled goalie from BU started for team USA during the recent winter Olympic games. He has the size and net presence to take his game to the next level.
Round 2
Pick #54
Zach LHeureux - The little fireball of a forward can beat opposing defensemen with his skill, but he can also lower his shoulder and drive to the net. Furthermore, he has a knack for getting under the skin of opponents.
Round 2
Pick #56
Christian Kyrou - The smallish brother of GHL forward Jordan Kyrou is a very skilled defenseman with a wicked point shot. He is a good stickhandler and passer, and he has the skills to be useful on the power play
