Are the compliance numbers our actual salary cap numbers or do they include the extra money we get in the offseason for free agency?

The 3M bump hasn't been applied yet. I will do this before round 1 opens.

Have the final expansion rules been posted somewhere by any chance?

I know this is for UFA but if you want to use FP to protect a UFA will you have to meet the round minimum to place a bid.
Say I want to protect a guy but I want to put 2 mil on him and use FP to protect him up to 8 mil. Would I have to wait until the 2 mil round to place this bid?

Yes. You would need to wait until the 2m period opened or you could bid 6 on him and add 2m in insurance

Yes. You would need to wait until the 2m period opened or you could bid 6 on him and add 2m in insurance Well that kinda sucks. So you have a guy you would be willing to pay top end 6 mil but hoping to get him for 3 mil, Have to hope no bids 6 mil round and 4.5 mil round. $8M $6M $4.5M $3M $1.5M $1M $600k With current round limits Boston wants to retain alzner for a reasonable 6 mil but wants to protect up to 8.5 he can't without commiting to paying for Alzner at 8 mil. It'll be interesting to see how this will work. I'm guessing Pietrangelo, Alzner, and Savard getting 8 mil deals either by owners trying to keep them or some team with cap space the next few years.

You WILL be able to bid in the 6 or even 8 million UFA round....with your F' Points!
Use 3 million of your REALZ dollars and add @ 60 f' points and voila = a 6 million dollar bid
That particular UFA....MUST have been on your team last year (has the FP designation after his name) WILL accept your F'points instead of salary for something like 20 f points = a million bucks, I think.
So Boston only pays Alzner 6 million....the other 2.5 million making the total bid 8.5 million is f' points and not actual salary.
F points used in this manner are Glenn's attempt to simulate the 'hometown' ability of the player to be MORE inclined to sign with the team the player last played on.

I think this is better. Closes loop holes. Although some players give some home town discounts, I doubt they go over 2mil often if ever

This isn't something that was implemented so GMs can to try to grab a player by massively underpayment him. This is meant to possibly be able to retain a player at a reasonable price when you would have lost him in the past

Boston can only make that bid in the 6 million round though. the 8 million round he would have to bid 8 million real dollars and 500k FP. Correct with your 3 million real dollars and 60 FP it is 6 million but only when the 3 million round is open. In the 6 million round unprotected and 4.5 million round unprotected.

I feel bad for the teams that waste FP to retain a UFA then. If you have to wait until the lower round to bid, your guy will be gone. If he's not gone by the time you're willing to place a bid on him, you're better paying slightly more and signing him out. After the multiple year contract savings you will pay roughly the same price, save your FP, and have him for more than one year.

Yea I agree don't see the reason to use FP unless maybe in Pietrangelo's case.
