I agree 100%, the winning owner, whether fp is used or not, should be able to sign the player to term.

Correct Dane...
To use F points Korrectly, one must still be in the same 'Bid Zone' - 8, 6, 4.5 whatever, to have effect.
What's WORSE is if you use f 'points and FAIL to hit your mark and be high bid, then those points still go bye bye.

Boys, I am not going to re litigate this. If you don't want any chance of being limited to 1 year on a guy you win then don't use FPs. It's as simple as that. If you don't use FPs then you won't be limited on term.

Luongo is a PERFECT example.
He is a goalie that is hurt and surgeried in real life / NHL
Florida has signed TWO possible replacements for him just this year, as if they KNOW something.
He is 100% going to have a worse card next year.
Whoever bids 6 million for him is going to have to sign him for at least 2 years. I guess you could always use your one waiver on him if he sucks or dangle him for the Las Vegas franchise, but with all the better goalies out there - at least 6 of them are going to be unprotected and taken before him, so I doubt that's a valid option.
Luongo seems to be perfect for Cornwall - 1 year max extension. Use of my f' points to enhance bid. Of course I'm going to throw money and points behind him. The only question is...
How much.

I would honestly and sincerely love to see Phil win that bid. It would be unfortunate though that he'd be strapped for cash to do anything else at that point, but hey who am I to judge.

I like the rule, prevents guys from basically franchising a player super cheap. One year rentals I could see this working but no FA is going to take huge hits to his salary for multiple years, the agents would never allow it anyways.

We are moving forward with small steps though.

Can we stop the politics and get back to hockey. We all know Glenn is thick headed and when there is an idea that gets stuck in there it takes like 3 years to work itself out of it.
