From what I have read the franchise you have is the one you get. I am very curious as to where this franchise will be located as well, and (as I suggested during the offseason) whether the expansion team could help facilitate some realignment in our own ranks.

We should all vote on the expansion city. Come up with a list of 5 or so choices and go from there. A team that makes sense in the prince of wales conference

I think we should allow struggling owners like myself and others to be able to win a chance to take over this team. I spent the better part of two season not fully understanding this league and never ever had help like what is given today...Just an idea, IM sure it will be a NO from our king.

Meh, second worst team in history of GHL now leading a division, last place team last year leading a conference. Turning around a team isn't easy but can be done

I wouldn't mind an experienced owner taking over the expansion team but if it is a veteran owner I think it has to be someone willing to put in a lot of work figuring out how and who the team will draft this year.
As for the new city I think it should be decided by the new owner if we can get one or mirror the NHL for now.

Current owners should not be allowed to bail on their teams for the expansion team - just my opinion.

I would love a chance to run an expansion team but I agree with Mike, I don't think it should be a current owner. What would be nice is to have a new guy follow along for the remainder of the season and then take the reigns of the expansion team but we currently have two teams under league management. I do have one potential owner in the wings that I'm pitching the league to after Christmas but I assume if he joins he will take one of those two teams as we've done in the past.

I had one guy on the hook for a while a few months back. He and I discussed the league at length and he was really interested in taking on the expansion team if that was an option. Strangely, he changed his mind after I had him check out these boards for a few weeks in September and October...I guess we scared him off.

The salary cap management aspect alone is terrifying to most new people. This league is a tough sell because it contains so many parts and applications.
New owners should def NOT be allowed to take the expansion team. We have a track record of not retaining a large % of new people, and the last thing we need is for someone to jam their fingers into the pie and then get pissed off and leave - a la Pittsburgh.
It is also a testiment to how blase' the league is this year - no pop or yapping or competition that discussion about the new team takes center stage. More teams than not are competing for the lottery picks than anything else this year. Slow year.

I don't need help running my team but I did not have to be ass raped my first few seasons. Over and done with, the problem with this league is the turn around takes forever. Who wants to join a league that might take you 5 real years to have a good team or make the playoffs. Ill be honest I am even getting bored with all this. Things really need to be looked at and fixed in order to keep owners interested and allow parity. Just an example is the 3 year average I proposed for player cards, IE: you have a player who year in and year out is solid and then has an injury or a bad year and you know his card is now worth shit. And please this rant is not a knock on our King, he does a great job with all this he really does. This league is above and beyond anything you will find on line. But that all being said we can always do better. I urge the league to get on board with what I am saying in order to make this league the best it can be.

A 'second' / minor league with ALL the trappings of how the NHL runs everything, of course, would be HUGE for renewed interest and keeping busy / keeping interest high as well as playtesting how it would work - I know Glenn wants multiple leagues going at the same time in the future.
As someone that is used to winning...I do see how complacency and dis-interest can now occur...when a team a'int doin well / losing.

Alaska - boom...there's all the proof ya need. Pittsburgh - all the way to finals on a roster that would make more than a few people laugh it is 100% possible to literally go from worst to first. Aces weren't that good and then won the cup

Plus, similar to how FP are distributed for playoff teams, the minor league clubs that compete in the G's equivalent of the Calder Cup could also earn FP for their franchise affiliates.

Phil you named 3 teams out of 30 since we started. The way the league is set up isn't working, what don't you understand. Maybe if we realized that we would have full ownership...
