Team stats pages are still in the works but this is more geared to the old timers league expanding from 6 to 12 teams in the near future for the 67-68 season. We have 4 spots locked up and 2 currently available.

What are the chances we'll get our "Minors" simulated. Would love to see teams minors compared against each other. Earn some FP's for same categories we have in pros. If GM's dont want to set lineups and such, they can be auto-piloted.
I'd rather see that put into action versus "past" players...We already know how good or bad past players were, they're "history".

Chris,
Upon reflecting on what it would take to incorporate a fully fleshed out minor league team I realized that there are several roadblocks that would have to be navigated. A few of the bigger ones being:
1) Guys loading up the minor league teams when their big club is having a down year. This would potentially reward franchises with higher draft picks (from finishing lower in the GHL) as well as other potential benefits (for having a good minor league squad)
2) Minor league teams not having enough goalies to have a started and a backup which is a current requirement of the engine. If a team only has one goalie, the current engine will shit the bed. This is why all teams are mandated to have 5 goalies in the system to substantially lower the risk of this happening in the GHL.
3) There is no waiver system which would expose guys being called up or sent down. This means a team could in theory demote all of their good players if their GHL team didn't have a game that night. Again, there is no provision for managing/preventing this so it would be additional development work
Some of the reasons I like the old timers (For Phil):
1) I want this league to be special and include a history that extends back 75 years. Hell, it might go back 100 if we finish up the 09-10 season. I can't think of another simulation that does/has done this. I want to continue to make the GHL experience one-of-a-kind.
2) In the late 70s when I started playing "The Worlds Greatest Hockey Game" with JP-Quebec, we had all sorts of fun with the game and the cards of that era. Seeing the Bobby Clarke and Bill Barber and Reggie Leach cards for the first time and using them in game are some of the best memories I have of fantasy hockey. Perhaps this old codger would like to try to re-capture some of that magic.
3)I care a hell of a lot more for the NHL players of previous eras then I do for some ECHL call up that is going to be playing 4 games for the Syracuse Crunch this year.
That being said, minor league play is not dead and buried, just securely on the back burner at present.

When I wrote the program to go out to the site where all of the seasons and leagues were, I wrote it so it grabbed all of the stats for all of the years for all leagues (including the WHA). SO I have the stats, just not sure if there will be a GHL rival league as well.

I imagine it would take some serious coding work and the like...but I have a few ideas or solutions for the problems you listed... Solution/Thought for #1- I don't see any issue with a team loading up their minor league team whether they are solid with their Pro team or Bad. If they are solid and have their ducks in order, then WHY shouldn't they be expected or allowed to be as good in the minors? If a GM has a bad Pro team, but is wise enough to attempt at building his team "from" the minors on up, WHY is that a bad thing. If you do well in the minors, You get FP's. Same categories as our pro's. It's all relative...Yes, there will be a few guys on deep teams with pro type cards in the minors....So, that's a deep franchise....That GM has been on top of his franchise...dont penalize him. Rich gets Richer. If he had a bad team, but drafted well and his rookies do well....Poor gets Richer. Solution/Thought for #2- Maybe, we can go to 6 Goalies, OR maybe we can merge to Franchises to form One Minor league team, using the rosters from both to ice a lineup. Or, we go with what we have and let the dice roll where they may. We may want to eliminate injuries for minors, as they could possibly roll into pro's the following season. Solution/Thoughts for #3- Well, since we like to mimic the NHL, we could therefore create a Waiver system. It's simple if we mimic the NHL's system. For ex: If we have players on our roster on pro contracts, they need to be placed in minors before season starts, if they are called up and then sent down, they'll need to clear waivers. It will force GM's to manage their teams better. If another GM claims the player, he will need to have the cap room and roster space to do so. Additionally, he will then go to the bottom of the waiver list, should another waiver player arise. Serpentine style waiver, or if you want, unlimited waiver claims with the above mentioned conditions. Maybe one of the upper echelon GM's could be become the "Waiver-meister" and manage the waiver side of the GHL should we decide to go that route. There's always a solution, if you want to find one. You can tell..or at least I can tell because I know him so well after all these years. He wants to 'do' all this old timer stuff. He doesn't want to do the minor league team.
He doesn't care about solutions. Best to just drop it and move on young Chris.
