Also coded and to be tested with the last 4 years of pre-expansion old timers: 1) Line change enhancements where teams will need to have opportunity to change before being able to do so. This will also be impacted by if period is a long change period 2) Related to 1 above, goalies rebound control rating will be used to control and freeze pucks more as the goalies teammates become more fatigued. 3) Goalies will be pulled if down by one with less than a minute to go. This also requires the puck not be in a teams end. Logic to put goalies back in if face-off happens in defensive end added as well. 4) Desperation shot opportunities by players if at the end of a game/period.

So you’re saying we’re going to have referee stats that will increase/decrease odds of penalty, home ice favoritism, and quality(?)

So you’re saying we’re going to have referee stats that will increase/decrease odds of penalty, home ice favoritism, and quality(?) Correct. Infractions on any given play will be borderline, standard, egregious. The referees skills as well as some other factors like 3rd period in close game/OT and make up call opportunities will be taken into account as well. Also refs may make bogus calls with the referee skill being the primary decider if they make a bad call or not. Data gleaned from this site: scoutingtherefs.com/2017-18-nhl-referee-stats/

Reb Ctrl Stat on the goalie card. The higher this is, the more proficient the goalie is in getting rebounds to hand off to teammates or freeze when team needs a change

Much too detailed to discuss in the forum here. Perhaps I will make a video discussing it or I would be glad to talk to you directly to explain as well.
Perhaps these and other questions might make the basis for a good podcast as well.

Skill is the overall proficiency of the referee. When a potential infraction occurs on the ice his chance to see it and interpret it correctly. Was it a dive or was their an actual infraction. Ratings are determined by how far into the NHL playoffs a ref was tapped to do a game.
Penalty is how apt they are at making calls. Some guys call tighter games while others keep the whistle in their pockets.
Homer is based on statistically how many penalties are called on the visitors in games they call. Not unsurprisingly almost all refs call more on the visitors then on the home team what with fans reactions to perceived calls. The more they call proportionally on visitors the higher the rating. Now there is the odd bird or two who actually calls more on the home team. These guys will have a negative rating.
