Does Edmonton need a caretaker?

Does Edmonton need a caretaker? That's debatable. Technically, they have an owner.

Boys,
As we head down the stretch this season and into the playoffs, I think we need to reach out to friends, family members, etc. and try to do some recruiting. At present time, we have one team (Chicago) in need of a manager, but we will also have a 32nd team being added this summer via expansion and...I'll just come right out and say it, I don't see Edmonton as a competent manager and since I recruited him, chances are that he is going to be told to move on. Last week, I mentioned to him that the trade deadline was coming up and his reply was "I don't care". That doesn't sit well with me. I have always believed that if you aren't here to have fun and try to better your team via the trade deadline, draft, etc., then you probably are hindering the league. Yes, I'm blunt, but if you are not present and active at the very least at these key times of the season, then you obviously aren't having any fun here. Hope everyone is well.

Thoughts for conversation
What if we add incentives for a new owner. Lets be frank, who wants to join a league with a team that sucks? The learning curve takes awhile (see Detroit) before you get a hang of things and build a winning team. A owner new or old might go years before they make the playoffs.
I don't know how we can do this but maybe collectively we can come up with some ideas and dangle a carrot for our new owners.

Yeah, when is Detroit's learning curve going to end? LOL...just kidding John!
Honestly, I agree with Scott. Sure, some of you guys are Super-OCD'ish!! Just some...trouble is...we need more of those type guys!

My 2 cents worth ..... I don’t think there is anything that can be done for a new owner that isn’t being done already .... maybe we need to ask Calgary the newest team that came into the league a few years back how he found the first few yrs to be .... with all that said This League is not for the faint of heart this is a league for hockey Enthusiast and nut jobs a league where you are the owner the GM and the coach I would hope that all owners Look to do the right thing to build their team whether it’s through the draft or free agency and be competitive this is a great league but it will only stay great because of the owners and participation from them

Good points Scotty. I wasn't going to invite Jake back even if he offered to re-up.
We already have much lower league dues for the new owners ($5 for the worst of teams). I would be fine with extending that for another year or 2 if the owner is actively engaged (at least setting his lines).
While having 31/32 fully engaged owners is the ideal, I think we are better off having fewer owners and a few league run teams if necessary to keep the league competitive and balanced.

I'd be equally concerned with 2 or3 teams that have been here for years and the owners never improve their teams.

Cannot recall, Do we have an owner for the New Expansion team? If not, maybe we hold off on selecting this team until we can solidify our current teams/ownership. I'm not saying this to prevent my players being taken, because I am already prepared for this upcoming expansion draft for this season's end. Just want to be a practical as possible for our league's GM status and moving forward.

Chris I usually agree with u on many things but not this ..... lots of teams have set up there season with expansion in mind as far as contracts and trades made if we hold off on expansion then teams including my own would not have set up our teams when we didn’t need to

I'm ready to roll Joe!
But, we need to make sure that the owners we currently have ( like Phil said ) are ready to roll also. Plus, we need to know that we have an owner for the expansion team that's ready to roll too...We don't just need all of these owners ready to roll for the upcoming expansion draft...we NEED them to continue to roll, thru the upcoming season and beyond. That's all I want to try and accomplish. We have a great thing here...lot's of great and different hockey minds, young and old. I'm 57 years old and working on my retirement, I have a shit ton of things going on...BUT, I consider this league as MY personal baby. I log in and try to stay involved. I've backed away from many of the rules and policies because I took a shit ton of backlash from a few Fantasy Bullies (LOL)...But, I still love this league and appreciate what Glenn puts into it.
Let's thin the herd from the non participants. I'm not talking about the guys that don't like to talk on the forums (ie: JP-Quebec), I'm talking about the guys that don't do anything to better their team. That don't participate in anything and just drag a team further into the abyss.
