That works for me. I forgot to ask in my last post, but is Calgary exempt from the expansion draft like Vegas is? Yes, we did decide that earlier and I had forgotten about it. Thanks.

Also, Brenden, I am sure he would be up for it as he's that type of guy but reach out to Scotty if needed to glean any lessons learned from him doing the draft for Calgary.

As far as Oregon picking a UFA from a team .... how many can they sign I’m guessing one and it’s 75 fp’s like the rest of the league ?

They have no expiring UFAs to pick from so they wont be selecting anyone in this manner. They should have a boat load of cap to make a big splash in the regular UFA market.

I'm curious, why do we have to protect our RFA players in the expansion? I mean, IF we left them exposed, the expansion team should have to give the team owning the RFA Rights the same as if someone were to offer an RFA Offer Sheet penalty. I mean, that's the leverage a team gets when signing a youngster...that's their protection for offering the kid a contract to begin with. We should at least be afforded that insurance should we leave an RFA open in Expansion. Just a thought.
IF, we have to spend FP's to "secure that UFA in Expansion" and otherwise, Where's my insurance of owning my RFA? A team gets 3 years when drafting a player under ELC contract. Doesn't seem right. RFA's should be protected automatically under our RFA Rules. If left unprotected in Expansion, the team should be required to pay the penalty for "in theory" acquiring/offering an RFA to an offer sheet. Because, that's what they're doing by selecting that player.

Same way it's done in the NHL actually in this case.

Same way it's done in the NHL actually in this case. Are you saying the NHL allows Expansion teams to select expiring RFA's during the expansion draft? Or, are you saying something different Scott?

The rule states only first and second year players as well as unsigned draft picks are automatically protected

In effect RFAs are protected until they complete their ELC. That is the point in a players contract where we mafe the line last expansion between EE players and not EE players.

I think a podcast or a twitch session would be ideal. Brian was kind enough to coordinate the podcast last time but I am not sure he has the time to do so now. If not, I will look to do via twitch and some meeting software perhaps zoom. Given everything we will have on our plates this offseason I would like to get this done by the end of the month. Some guys seem to do a hard shutdown once summer begins and rousing them from their hibernation can be a difficult task. Jon and I just finished a expansion preview podcast based on the lists for the 15 teams who have posted lists. I'll figure out how to host it and let y'all listen if you like. It's not quality material by a loooong shot, but we were bored.
