Test draft picks have been cleared and the early draft window is set to open Monday night at 7:00 PM EST. The official open in 7:00 PM EST on 7/22.
I will make time to research the handful of players people have asked for in the next few days and also pull the trigger on the trades that are pending later today.

So I am presuming that the news about the agreement on the CBA (and the flat salary cap) means that our cap will be the same this season as last?

I spoke with Glenn about this and I believe we are staying flat at 84 million. I think this is going to lend to a very significant jump next season, however. My logic being that the NHL will very likely raise their cap in November when free agency begins (maybe not, in light of recent events) and then again in July when free agency begins for the following season with the expansion draft also rolling around. That possibly means that the NHL will raise their cap twice before the 21-22 season commences.

It's all based on revenue, there is always a potential for it to go up...or down

If we were to implement the new rules for keeping guys prospects longer (until they played a set number of NHL games) then I think that would ease a lot of the concerns folks have about the current cap as well.

Possibly, but how would this affect the player pool. Would this lead to having many more 100k players to flesh out a 45 man roster or would prospects count toward the 45?

You would have additional players to flesh out the 45 as prospects do not count against the cap or towards minimum roster sizes. 100k players if you wish.

Would there be enough players in the pool for 32 teams to do this?

For sure for skaters, goalie we may need to allow teams to carry 4 instead of 5.

I would say a minimum of 4 and max of 5 that way teams aren’t forced to trade a goalie to get to the number
