I have made the command decision to grab the current NHL stats to use as the base for our cards next year. Given the fact that we are almost in June and I hadn't started card generation, until this morning that is, I didn't think we could afford to wait any longer if we wanted to have our draft in July.
I have reached out to Justin-Cincinnati to see if he will be able to assist in getting the AHL data aggregated for us as he has the past 4 or 5 years since the AHL site changed their web page structure.
So, first status of the new season is the card generation process has officially started.

I think the NHL regular season is over as the NHLPA has approved a 24 team playoffs. The draft hurdle might be a barrier tougher to call as it is very up in the air still as to whether the 8 extra playoff teams will be in the draft lottery or not. If they are not, we won't be able to follow their model this season

Justin has delivered the AHL data so I will get these entered into the flow and continue the process of card generations.
Thanks again Justin for doing this for us. It is a big help to me for sure!

Just a quick question. Juuso Valimaki hurt all year, does he go back to prospect status with a 2023 end date or does he stay on books (No Card) and contract end date just put back a year.

I'm guessing he would fall under the umbrella of being a drop option or retain for 100K, but I think that would avoid losing a year on his contract?

From rule book...
Player was injured all year (I mean, all year) and doesn't have a card. You have the option of either terminating this contract for free or retaining his rights for 100k.
He cannot be a prospect because he has played over 20 games

With that being said Scott if the player is retained u honor his contract if it expires in 2021 the only reason to retain for 100k would then to be to keep him using fantasy points as a UFA

I think I answered my own question looking at Ilya Kovalchuk card. Once retained for 100k the contract gets deferred a year. In my case Valimaki will go from a 2022 RFA to a 2023 RFA. Kovalchuk was deferred 5 years and is still playing on his original GHL contract.
Also Robby Fabbri injured and was retained for 100k and his contract deferred a year.

How do we track all these deferments from injury or playing overseas?

How do we track all these deferments from injury or playing overseas? Looks like Glenn coded it, if you look at either of the player cards mentioned you can see what happened the year they were retained

Very selfish question so feel free to swat it down. Has there been any thought on draft changes this year as there will likely be significantly less draftable players as a ton usually get a few games at the end of the year which won’t happen this year?
My initial guess is likely no change as it could get complicated but something like adding in prospects for players who play in the playoffs may work or deferral of picks until next year and integrate them both together.
For the record I am not advocating for wholesale change/new drafting rules/age based whatevers. Just being selfish and am worried my picks may be a bit devalued, after accumulating so many this year, with that loss of talent (if there is one as I don’t know the entire state of draftables and whatnot). Plus I like to complain so there’s that
