Well, see now that depends... If they are coming off their entry level contract, they are not eligible for the expansion draft and therefore automatically protected However, if they are coming off a bridge deal, they are eligible for the expansion draft and would have to be protected.
Ah, that helps, in that case I've got 3 not on the list (Lauzon, Simek, and Nick Merkley)

because this off season will be so abbreviated and we have an expansion draft to consider I wanted to get an early listing of Expansion Exempt players. Given the feed back from the group, it appears that the logic is sound and once we close our 20-21 league business, I will re-run the queries and the list should be fine.

OK, just to officially announce this prior the NHL draft lottery (which I think is tonight), we will be doing our own thing again this year like we did last.

Way less exciting than following the NHL but it is what it is Are you saying the NHL Draft Lottery was exciting? That was one of the most lackluster drafts I've witnessed. Only two teams switched position...Almost as ridiculous as seeing those Winnipeg fans in the stands tonight vs Mtl...muzzled and separated in the stands like good little sheep. What a friggin joke. Why even give the NHL your money. Those "fans" look like pathetic fools who couldn't wait to get the hell out of the arena. No emotion. Answer me this question: Why is it ok for players to sit next to each other on the bench, hit on the ice, spit on the ice and bench, fight on the ice, face wash each other, etc....BUT, the coaches, staff and back up goalie need to be muzzled? It's a friggin non-sensical joke. Sorry for the rant...but it's time for everyone to wake up.

Suffolk, because those players have been isolated for months, regularly screened, most have received vaccines, and quarantined when testing positive. Despite that there have still been huge outbreaks (Vancouver). I’m not much for all this either especially since it seems like people want it both ways but it is what it is at this point. Plus Canada has had more issues with the virus than most of us in the states but that’s only what I’ve been hearing through other doctors because we argue about this garbage all the time.
As far as the actual NHL Draft. How bout those Kraken getting 2nd overall tho? I just read an article that was hating on them gettin such a high pick, HA. They’ll still have a hard time and it’s not a too heavy draft so go cry me a river lol.

Chris,
No, you misread what I wrote. I said it was more exciting when the NHL lottery results affected our GHL lottery.
As far as covid goes, it's a virus. No more, no less. Mass panic, social distancing, rapid testing, wearing a diaper on your face are all useless. Everyone has an opinion but the fact is that we've made it through horrible virus spread before without any of these tactics. People are sheep and will follow people they've never heard of without asking a single question because someone on their television told them to. I say let them. Governmental control does not cure viruses but an awful people certainly believe it does, don't they?

Since I will be running the expansion team, I decided to read up on what has been talked about so far. A couple thoughts and ideas.
Going through a few teams, I realized that some teams will barely have enough players that need protection (at least on the BIGS roster). On at least one team, no goalie will need to be protected, as one is a RFA 2022 and the other is UFA. How will this be addressed?
Looking at the first post in this thread, my answers to these questions, in order, would be 1) yes, 2) capped at 2 or 3, 3) years based on the money/contract like normal.
Now, there will be owners who don't like the idea of losing a player they don't need to protect that they were planning on resigning using the 75 FP after the expansion draft. My idea to help with this would be to allow each owner to protect one UFA in addition to the 7/3/1 or 8/1 formula, BUT have it cost 25 FP just to "protect" the UFA, and then still needing to use an additional 75 FP to resign them after the expansion draft. Or they could just take the 14 in 15 chance that I don't take the UFA they want to resign in this scenario.
This way, owners don't have to worry about losing someone they were going use their 75 FP for, but not getting to "protect" an additional player for fee, hence the 25 FP protection cost. And capping the amount of UFA I could select at 2 (and paying asking price) while that UFA being the player selected from previous team would seem like a fair agreement, since going through rosters, it'll be slim pickings, especially talent wise.
I'm not trying to be like VGK and make the finals first year, but don't want to be like the Thrashers or Blue Jackets for years.
Thoughts?

Just to be safe.....you are friends with some other owners here right? We just need to be sure you are real and not someone like Sal, if not Sal himself. Sounds funny, but maybe you remember him and what happened.
