as far as goalies I could see allowing 4-5 as there may be less goalies in the pool. 6 is a hard no go as it could result in someone stashing way to many NHL level guys.

5 is crippling some teams.....I have 3 NHL starters
One year Halifax had all 5 NHL starters.

I doubt there we will be enough goalies for every team to carry 5 if we change the prospect rules.
With that said, I like the prospect rules to a point, but will we be given a choice to use guys and burn a year of their contract if the card warrants such?

One being simplicity the other being that if they only played a few number of games their card would be nerfed to the point that it wouldn't be something you would be excited to use.

Is this a go and changing next season? Or were the reservations enough to put a pause on his proposal?

Have we addressed how this is going to affect roster construction? Will teams be required to carry 5 goalies now that more will probably be considered prospects? We need 160 goalies for every team to have 5. With players we need 1,280 players for each team to have 40. Do we have numbers to see how many goalies and players would not be considered prospects under the new rules? Clear as mud

Last call for comments on this subject. If no additional comments in 48 hours, we will consider this adopted. What would be the games limits for being a prospect under this rule change? Clear as mud

I think the popular sentiment /rule for this aspect of the sim is approved for this year...just have to work out the initial / starting verbiage of the rule.

If we're going for realism, my suggestion would be threefold:
1. Get rid of the current prospect system and implement a new prospect system for all drafted players.
2. A drafted player can remain unsigned for two offseasons (not including the drafted offseason). On the second offseason (not including the drafted offseason), player is either signed or becomes a UFA. This is pretty much what Scott suggested in another thread for this proposed rule change.
3. Once a drafted player signs, they will be on their ELC. Their ELC will be 3 years, but have different monetary values for before and after said player plays a game in the GHL. Until a drafted player plays in the GHL, they will be on a minor league contract. 350k for 1st round picks, 300k for 2nd round picks, 250k for 3rd round picks, 200k for 4th round picks, 150k for 5th round picks. Once a player plays in the GHL, the next season their contract value will be what it is currently for whatever round they are selected, similar to when a minor league contracted player plays a game in the GHL and needs a pro contract the next season.
This would give draft picks more value, create "two way" deals for drafted players (like we have for minor leaguers), and will also allow us for no changes to the minimum or maximum roster spots.

With the most profound apologies, not retrofitted into the rulebook as of yet. 1000 pardons master. I will self flagillate accordingly this evening.

That's all great and I love sarcasm but the actual rule isn't even set in stone as of yet, at least not in a way that was transparent to the owners. Nobody had a clue what the rule actually is, just that prospect status has apparently been redefined in some way. 20 NHL games? 10 for goalies? 154 games in the AHL? You may know the answers to these questions but we certainly don't.

And as far as the rule book is concerned, yes, it's frustrating that nothing has been updated for many years. I wouldn't even join this league right now if I was a potential owner. I can't even keep a lot of it straight because when I go to look up a rule that I might have forgotten or to help someone who has asked a question, it's not even in the rule book at all. Bridge contracts? How long have we been able to do this? How would I know it was even an option?

Unless you see me agree with something further down in one of the threads above then you can pretty safely assume that my latest post in the section is very close to what the change is going to be. Prospects 20/10 NHL GP instead of TOTGP. Goalies (Figure a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 right now). Not a huge concern as UFA hasn't even started yet.

I haven't fully updated it but started the process either 2 days ago or yesterday.
