Glenn, did you forget the asking price of the RFA Goalies? I don't see Grubauer and Darling - Both of whom Cornwall would like to chat up for the right price.

I didn't forget them but I have been concentrating on the skaters first.

I'm not sold on the asking prices thingy.
Drew Shore, 25 yrs old...spent nearly all of last year in AHL, hasnt been able to crack an NHL roster Full time yet. His card is 52/5- with a 7 Fortitude and a 3 Stamina...Asking Price is 1.69 per.....I would think it would be along the lines of an AHL, or a two way deal in the 900k range. Just seems a little high. This asking price, kinda forces a club to release a young guy that I drafted and cant really play him but would like to have him in the Organization.

Last season's card was a little more relative but still seems a bit high to me as well

I'm sure there are other "Drew Shore's" in this predicament. Just not seeing the reason for such a high asking price from such a lousy card. This is a problem....I think.

Jordan Martinook as I mentioned earlier in the thread and a few players that seem a little low to me as well

The formula should be ready to go for review in a day or two.

The formula should be ready to go for review in a day or two. Oh, does this mean that the asking prices may change? I thought this was a done deal...sounds good.

No, this was the first cut for folks to review. If they see things that looked odd they can post here, as some have, and I will look to refine the logic to make these as close as possible to what they should be.

I fleshed out a new algorithm here over lunch and ran some of the higher end players through it. I will run a bigger run for all of the RFAs later on but here is a sampling of what the results would be for some of the current player cards.
Tarasenko 6.9M Kane, Patrick 8.6M Del Zotto 5.3M Petrovic 3.8M
I used these guys because they had good years. When I run the larger run later it will include their average scores in determining their asking prices as well.

That's more like it.

I think Petrovic is a little high on this model, possibly even del zotto, who had a banner year for him, but maybe the average will bring them down some

I am all for tinkering however there needs to be some expectation level setting. The formula, no matter what it is will not be 100% fool proof. There will always be guys that are overpaid and guys that are underpaid in peoples minds. The goal is to have realistic asking prices give or take. Remember, the asking prices will be cut by at least 90%, if not 75%, for those players retained (which is usually the case).
I will run this current iteration of the model for the full group of RFAs this year and we can see how things look.
