Hmmm.....dont get me started ladies! LOL!!! 1-Curious Scott, in your example above...is the PK Playing time in "Seconds" ? 2-Just a statement here: "Just because a guy gets some PK Time, doesnt neccessarily indicate that he is a Capable Defensive Forward. for ex: Corey Perry plays PK and so does David Backes. Backes is a hell of alot more capable as a Defensive Forward than Perry is...IN REAL LIFE, not just the FHL. We need to be careful in this regard....not to reward the inadequate PK players too much defensive prowess...otherwise, the FHL is going to turn into a "TRAP LEAGUE"....against all of Suffolks premises as a team! NOT A GOOD THING!!!!!

Clit Glenn-some....Hah, thats funny!!! Anywhooo....Glennis... Im curious to know how a FHL Player Card "Position" is determined? For instance.....A player such as Justin Abdelkader ( Suffolk ) is currently C/LW....This year, HockeyNews has him listed as a W/C....does this mean he will DEFINITELY be a W/C? I do not know if you have a formula with Minimum Games Played at a Position to qualify. So, whats the dilly G? the breakdown of

Ian is dead on. The 2nd # is seconds per game averaged over the entire season. I am going to go in no and look at cards and FHL stats vs. NHL stats for the players posted and post here in a few minutes.

Scott,
Although the stats you chose to show are pretty similar from NHL to FHL...
You really can not compare an NHL Players Stats, with his same FHL Stats. I have had this same disagreement with many a trade partner...
The main reason being, NHL players with GOOD Stats, are, for the most part, on a very good NHL team. Because the TEAM they are on is good, their responsibilities and results are varied.
For ex: DANIEL SEDIN
In the NHL last season, Daniel is a perenial All Star. Among league leaders in Points, Goals, etc...His last years Stats would lead to an excellent FHL Player Card---and it did!!!!
Now, look at his FHL Stats! Not so good...as a matter of fact, abysmal considering his NHL Stats and FHL Card.
One player is not going to make a difference...you need a team of decent players to do well in the FHL. Hell, even my "Mediocre Players" are performing above and beyond....We dont need a team of All Stars to win on aa consistant basis....thats the beauty of this League.
I have a hunch why my team is doing well, but I cannot divulge my theory just yet. But Im willing to help out anyone who asks...AFTER the conclusion of this season of course. So far, my theories have proven correct, as far as formula for success relates.

I only added FHL stats because someone requested it, pay more attention to the Stats listed from the NHL in 2010 and how it correlated to the FHL card, that's what we were actually talking about and what I am trying to show here.

Yeah, I didnt mean for my post to sound like I was attacking YOU, but that was the risk I had to take.....I appologize for that!! I just wanted to point out the facts I mentioned, as they related to NHL Stats and FHL Player Cards.

Completely understood Chris, I didn't take it as an attack.
Here is my opinion of the situation. A player with Kaberle's stats should have a better defensive rating. I think he gets such a low defense stat because he doesn't play on the pk and because of the huge difference in his +/- vs. the team he played for. The problem I see with tinkering with the formula is that the guys that do play a lot of pk time will suffer with having poorer defensive ratings and I don't want to under rate these players so for me right now, it's a catch-22.

Guys that do play a lot of PK time will not suffer but those who have otherwise good defensive stats wont be penalized for not playing on the PK
