I don't see how not having agents makes any difference in the dates, the only thing that would affect the dates is player cards being released. The following is hat we used last year for rounds during RFA and UFA bidding.
Restricted Free Agent Compensation Chart and RFA Bidding Process
Tier I (Players under 30 on 7/1)
below 1M : No compensation.
1M - 1.499M : (1) third-round draft choice.
$1.5M - 2.999M: (1) second round draft choice.
$3M - 4.499M: (1) first-round choice and (1) third-rounder.
$4.5M - 5.999M: (1) first- (1) second- and (1) third-rounder.
$6M to 7.999M : (2) First-round choices, (1) second-rounder and (1) third-rounder.
$8M and over: (2) First-round choices, (2) second-rounders and (2) third-rounders.
Tier III (Players over 30 on 7/1)
below 1.5M : No compensation.
$1.5M - 2.999M : (1) fourth round draft choice.
$3M - 4.499M: (1) third round draft choice.
$4.5M - 5.999M: (1) second-round choice
$6M and over: (1) first-round choice
Any player receiving a qualifying bid (a bid which matches or exceeds players salary demands which are determined based on player card) can be re-signed by the team owning his rights at 75% of the highest bid amount. If the team which owns the players rights chooses not to match a qualifying bid, the team who wins the bid will be required to compensate the team owning the players rights according to the chart above.
If a player receives no bids, the team which owns the players rights can choose to re-sign the player at 75% of his asking price or release the player to Unrestricted Free Agency.
Restricted free agency bidding will take place in rounds, starting at the highest salary level above and continue in descending order according to the chart above until all rounds are complete.
Ex. - The minimum bid in round one of RFA is $8M, the minimum bid in round two is $6M and so on.
I believe Glenn is thinking about raising the 75% re-signing amount. I am hoping this goes up to the 85-90% range.
Unrestricted Free Agency
Round One - $6M minimum
Round Two - $5M minimum
Round Three - $4M minimum
Round Four - $3M minimum
Round Five - $2M minimum
Round Six - $1M minimum
Round Seven - $500K minimum
All subsequent rounds will have a $100K minimum and these rounds will continue until all team rosters meet the 45 player requirement
John,
The draft cannot happen without the cards so it doesn't look like following the NHL schedule of June 22nd-23rd will be feasible for us.
