Anyone who is showing as having their contract end in 2016 will not be hitting your books. These guys are displayed in case a GM wanted ti retain a guy like this who may have played overseas all of last year.
Matt, as per the rules retirement is not cause for dropping without penalty. If he has a card and contract then he must be bought out or his salary eaten until you can find a trading partner to rake the contract off of your hands.
Dupuis has a card and term through 2018. If he retires he will need to get paid as well to leave the Blazers.
I believe, you will need to consult the rulebook to verify that players with Forts of 2 or less can be LTIR however they can't be placed on LTIR until after FA completes.

Guys, I have Semin and McArthur with 1 foritudes. That means, since Semin retired, I can use the waived without penalty rule? And Clark MacArthur can go on injured reserve? Looks like Semin is signing with a KHL club. If you want him off the books this year I think it would have to be a waiver, but next year he can be dropped for free. | 05/29/2016 11:33 PM News Semin re-signed with KHL club Metallurg Magnitogorsk on a one-year contract, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.

So, effectively, Weaver is a UFA?

Weaver retired Nov 2015 I believe so he won't be having a GHL card or hitting the Free Agency....ever again.
It is ODD that Weaver and other players are showing up as 'no card' but 'on the books' all the while with a contract end of '2016' after their name which would seem to me like they done with their contract and shouldn't be on that team's page.

Again, this is done top catch the guys like Kovalchuk or Radulov who went to Russia and the owner may want to keep them. Also, with players having the ability to spend some franchise points to sweeten the deal for UFA players they had all year this is where I can show if the player is eligible or not.

What's the most cost-effective approach for Semin and Dupuis?
MacArthur can go LTIR.

Am I able to put Goalie Mike Smith on LTIR? He was injured for majority of the season however goalie cards do not indicate their fortitude.

LTIR don't take place till after the off season. I just wanted to question this now so I can set a plan for the offseason.

Once the fortitude is showing you will be able to determine whether he can be put on LTIR, if I am correct it needs to be 2 or lower? I used mine for a goalie last year (he still counts towards your required 5)

I used mine for a goalie last year (he still counts towards your required 5) Yes and no. Players with a maximum fortitude of 2 can be put on LTIR. However, nobody can be placed on LTIR until the season starts. Teams must be cap compliant at the start of the season. Therefore owners cannot use LTIR to get under the cap during the off-season.
